Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 22 July 1984:  Washington - Funeral services for Marcelin Pitre, 76, of Washington, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church here with burial to follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre died Saturday at 10:50 a.m. at Opelousas General Hospital following a long illness.  Survivors include: his wife, Iris Marie Sebastien Pitre of Washington; five step-sons, Winston Fontenot of Opelousas, Will Ray Fontenot of Lafayette, Gene Fontenot of Baton Rouge, Ryan Fontenot of Carencro, and Bryan Fontenot of Sunset; one daughter, Mrs. Peggy Vidrine of Metairie; his father, Emile Pitre of Opelousas; his sister, Mrs. Emily Bordelon of Opelousas; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Mr. Pitre was a retired school bus driver and former chief of police of Washington.  A rosary will be held tonight at 7 at the Sibille Funeral Home of Washington.  A wake will begin 10 a.m. this morning.  Sibille Funeral Home of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 7 April 1960:  Funeral services were to be held at 4 p.m. today for Mrs. Marcelin Pitre, 49, the former Pauline Stephens, who died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday at her home in Washington.  She had been ill eight months.  Services were to be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington with Father Patrick Regan officiating.  Burial was to follow at Cedar Hill cemetery, under direction of Lafond and Son Funeral Home.  Mrs. Pitre was a native of Grand Prairie and a resident of Washington for five years.  She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Walter Bonis Jr. of New Orleans and Miss Peggy Pitre of Washington.  Other survivors are six brothers, Ernest Stephens of Starks, Alex and Will Stephens both of Washington, Pierre Stephens of Opelousas, Tommy Stephens of Lemoyen and Nolan Stephens of Evergreen; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene Oliver of Evergreen and Mrs. Annie Ryder of New Orleans; and four grandchildren.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 16 April 2008:  (photo) Carencro - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Apr. 16, 2008, at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro, for Iris Marie Pitre, 93, the former Iris Marie Sebastian, who passed away Monday, Apr. 14, 2008, at 1:10 p.m. at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette.  Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.  The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Crowley, LA, will officiate at the services.  Ms. Pitre was a native of Plaisance, LA and lived in the Opelousas/Washington area for most of her life.  She was a former member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters in Washington, LA.  Survivors include two sons, Bryan Fontenot and his wife, Kathryn, of Sterling, Alaska, and Ryan J. Fontenot and his wife, Olita, of Lafayette; twelve grandchildren, Karen Robison and her husband, Phil, of Lafayette, Pamela Bolsins and her husband, Scott, of Dallas, Wynette Ducorbier and her husband, Troyce, of Lafayette, Keith Fontenot, of Lafayette, Russell Fontenot and his wife, Tracey, of Denham Springs, Richard Fontenot and his wife, Susan, of NC, Laura Fontenot, of Seattle, Lisa F. Arnaud and her husband, Gerald, of Arnaudville, Ryan Fontenot, Jr. and his wife, Wanda, of Lafayette, Gerald Fontenot, of Lafayette, Cynthia Fontenot Hardy and her husband, Shawn, of Lafayette, and Cassie F. Britton and her husband, Joseph, of Montgomery, Ala.; two step-sons, Doug Burdick and his wife, Brenda, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Lony Burdick and his wife, Rhonda, of Seattle; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Tommy Oge and his wife, Jerry, of Plaisance.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcelin Pitre; three sons, Winston Fontenot, Wilray 'Jack' Fontenot, and Gene Fontenot; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Sebastian, mother the former Eva Dupre; three brothers, Herbert Oge, Andrew Oge, and Chester Sebastian; and two sisters, Mary Lou Jagneaux and Mable Dupre.  A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.  Pallbearers will be Bryan Fontenot, Ryan Fontenot, Sr., Jeremy Bryan Arnaud, Gerald Fontenot, Brent Jagneaux, and Ryan Fontenot, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Ryan Fontenot, Russell Fontenot, and Peyton Huval.  Melancon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bonis Jr., mother of Linda, Patricia, Kim, Ruth and Pauline Bonis; daughter of Marcelin Pitre and the late Pauline Stevens; sister of Mrs. Peggy Vidrine; age 34 years, a native of Washington, La., and a resident of St. Bernard Parish for the past nine years.  Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of U.S. Post Office Dept. of the New Orleans area, officers and members of St. Roch Boosters Club and faculty of Sts. Peter and Paul School, are invited to attend the funeral.  Services from the funeral home of Jacob Schoen & Son, Inc., 527 Elysian Fields ave. (parking 2223 Chartres st.), on Tuesday, August 20, 1963, at 9 o'clock a.m., with Requiem Mass at St. John Vianney Church.  Interment in St. Roch No. 2 Cemetery.
