Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Saturday, 9 March 1907:  The death of Marshall Petrie occurred at his home on Water street, Orono early Friday at the age of 54 years.  He is survived by a widow, three daughters and two sons.  The funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church, Monday morning at nine o'clock.

Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Monday, 26 January 1942:  Mrs. Mary E. Petrie - Orono, Jan. 25 - Mrs. Mary Ellen Petrie, 77, widow of Marshal Petrie, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith M. Soucie, 1 Margin street.  The deceased, in failing health for many years, died after a short acute illness.  She was born in Bathurst, N.B., daughter of George and Rose Ann Burke Doucette, and for the past 54 years had made her home in Orono, where she had endeared herself to her neighbors and many other friends.  Besides the daughter with whom she lived, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Theresa M. McNeil, R.N., of Brewer; a son, Clayton Petrie of Michigan; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.  Funeral services will be held in St. Mary's Catholic church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock.

Mary Ida 'Edith' Pitre:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Wednesday, 19 March 1952:  Mrs. Frederick F. Soucie.  The death of Mrs. Edith M. Soucie, 66, widow of Frederick F. Soucie, occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Scripture, 33 Thirteenth street, Tuesday morning following a long illness.  She was born in Bathurst, N.B., the daughter of Marshall and Mary Ellen (Doucette) Petrie, and lived for many years in Orono.  Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Arthur Gallagher of Chestnut Hill, Mass., Mrs. Thomas Feeney of Portland, Mrs. George Calpas of Dorchester, Mass., Mrs. George Hodgins of Brewer, Mrs. Robert Cummings of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Walter Scripture of Bangor; a brother, Clayton Petrie of Chillicothe, Ohio; several grandchildren and seven nieces.  The remains are at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Scripture, 33 Thirteenth street.  Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church, Orono, Thursday at 9 a.m.

Mary Theresa PitreThe Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Thursday, 10 January 1952:  Mrs. Neal MacNeil.  Mrs. Teresa M. MacNeil, 63, registered nurse, of 18 Brimmer street, Brewer, died at her home yesterday noon following a brief illness.  She was the widow of Neal MacNeil.  She was born in Canada, daughter of the late Marshall and Mary Ellen Doucette Petrie, and had resided in Brewer for the past 14 years.  Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Soucie, Bangor; one brother, Clayton L. Petrie, Chillicothe, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.  Remains are at the residence and funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Brewer.

Eva Elizabeth Pitre:  The Escanaba Daily Press (Escanaba, MI), Sunday, 6 March 1938:  Mrs. N. J. Niks Dies Saturday.  Local Woman Succumbs Following Stroke a Week Ago.  Munising, March 5 - Mrs. N. J. Nicks, 50, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at her home on Elm avenue here.  Death followed a stroke suffered last Sunday evening.  Mrs. Niks was born, Eva Petrie, on December 31, 1887, at Orono, Maine, and resided in Munising for the past seven years.  Previous to coming to Munising, she had resided at Chillicothe, Ohio.  She was married to Mr. Niks at Detroit twenty years ago last Christmas day.  She was well known in Munising and was an active worker in the local Catholic church.  She was affiliated with the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, St. Anthony's Guild of Munising and a member of the Altar Society of the Chillicothe church she attended before coming to Munising.  The body was taken to the C. F. Beaulieu Funeral Home to be prepared for burial.  Services will be held on Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock at Sacred Heart church with Rev. Fr. O. J. LaMothe officiating.  The body will be shipped to Eau Claire, Wis., Mr. Niks' former home, and interment will be made on Wednesday morning.  Mrs. Niks is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ellen Petrie, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Sousie, both of Orono, Maine, another sister, Mrs. Theresa McNeil of Boston, Mass., and a brother, Clayton Petrie, of Munising.

- Marshfield News Herald (Marshfield, WI), Monday, 7 March 1938:  Burial at Eau Claire. Munising, Mich. - Funeral services for Mrs. N. J. Niks, 50, who died here Saturday after a stroke, will be held Wednesday at Eau Claire, Wis.  Her husband formerly of Eau Claire, is general superintendent of the Munising Paper company.

Lewis Clayton Petrie:  Chillicothe Gazette (OH), Monday, 14 June 1971:  Louis C. Petrie, 66, of 171 E. Fifth St., died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday at Chillicothe Hospital.  Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. John Kepf officiating.  Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Helby Memorial Home where recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30.  Born on Feb. 26, 1905, at Orono, Maine, he was the son of Marcel and Mary Ellen Doucet Petrie.  On June 16, 1928 he was married to Mary Kellough who survives.  Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donald W. (Mary Ellen) Barnhart, Londonderry, Mrs. Rudolph J. (Janet) Grieco, Cincinnati, and Mrs. Clyde F. (Lorene) Warth, Chillicothe, and seven grandchildren.  He was predeceased by three sisters.  Mr. Petrie, who had lived here 30 years, was a retired machine operator for the Mead Corporation.
