Obituary:  Southwest Daily News (Sulphur, LA), Wednesday, 5 July 1978:  Funeral services for Manson Pitre, 67, of DeQuincy, were held at 2 p.m. Friday (June 30), in First United Pentecostal Church.  The Revs. T. D. Cardwell, Charles Fontenot, W. D. Thompson and C. C. Weeks officiated.  Burial was in Perkins Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home.  Pitre died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital in Sulphur.  He had been a resident of the Sulphur area for 25 years.  He was a retired minister of the Hackberry and Carlyss United Pentecostal churches.  He was a veteran of World War II and was a retired security guard at Davidson Chemical Co.  Survivors include his wife, Etta Pitre of Sulphur; three sons, Melvin Pitre of Tulsa, Okla., and Cleveland and David Pitre, both of Sulphur; three daughters, Clara Eccels, Dorris West and Billie Clopton, all of Sulphur, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Obituary:  American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Wednesday, 2 April 2003:  Sulphur - Etta Mae Pitre, 89, died recently.  She was born June 13, 1913, to Erastus " Ras " James Alston and Victoria " Vic " Robinson Alston of DeQuincy.  She lived in DeQuincy for 43 years before moving to Sulphur, where she lived until her death.  She was a pastor's wife for 20 years.  She was a Ladies Auxiliary leader and Sunday school teacher for 40 years.  She was active in the ministry for 60 years.  Survivors include three sons, Melvin Pitre of Tulsa, Okla., Manson C. Pitre and David S. " Beak " Pitre, both of Sulphur; three daughters, Clara Eccles, Dorris West and Billie White, all of Sulphur; one brother, Edwin Edward Alston; one sister, Eunice Martin, both of DeQuincy; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, the Rev. Manson Pitre; five children; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.  Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, in First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy.  The Revs. T. D. Cardwell and Burton Ashworth will officiate.  Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy under the direction of Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy.  Visitation is today in the funeral home and Thursday in the church.  Pallbearers include Randy Eccles, David Eccles, Greg Pitre, Brian Pitre, Michael Pitre, Shawn Pitre, Andy Clopton and Shane West.

Ernest Shelton Pitre:  The Dequincy News (DeQuincy, LA), Thursday, 18 May 1972:  Funeral services for Ernest Shelton Pitre, 30, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 15, in the First United Pentecostal Church in DeQuincy.  The Rev. T. D. Cardwell and the Rev. W. D. Thompson of Jonesville officiated.  Burial was in the Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.  Mr. Pitre died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at his home in Hackberry.  He was a member of the Pentecostal Church and a native of DeQuincy.  Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Dwanna Gayle and Jennifer Lynn Pitre and one son, Brian Manson Pitre, all of Hackberry.  Also three brothers, Melvin Pitre of DeQuincy, Cleveland Pitre of Sulphur and David Pitre of Carlyss; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Eccles, Mrs. Doris West and Mrs. Billy Clopton, all of Sulphur; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manson Pitre of Carlyss.

Mayzelle Pitre:  The DeQuincy News (DeQuincy, LA), Friday, 31 October 1947:  Maezelle Pitre, three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manson Pitre, died at the DeQuincy hospital Wednesday afternoon.  She suffered extensive burns Tuesday morning when her clothes caught fire from a gas heater.  As we go to press, the funeral is being planned for 4:30 o'clock at the First Pentecostal church, with the pastor, the Rev. A. D. Varnado, to officiate.  Besides her parents, she is survived by three brothers and one sister.  Snider Funeral Home is in charge.

Dorris Marie Pitre:  Robison Funeral Home (LA):  Dorris Marrie West, 76, of Sulphur, passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus Saturday September 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.  Dorris loved to crochet, sew, knit, paint, really anything crafty.  She loved to travel and get trinkets, what-nots, and collectibles.  Dorris loved her family, she loved being around her family at reunions, holiday get togethers, birthdays, anytime was a good time to see family.  If you were a friend, then you were family in the eyes of Dorris.  She taught that to her kids and grandkids by example daily.  Her strength and tenacity have inspired us all, especially during these last few years.  She will be sorely missed by all who know her.  Those left to cherish Dorris' memory are her children, Anita Cormier (James), Shane West (Summer); grandchildren, Cameron West and Richard Spong, Bryce West and Michelle Blankenship, Justin Carlin (Chasity), Ashlyn Carlin and Tyler LaFleur; great-grandchildren, Corbyn Carlin, Bentley Carlin, Colby Carlin; siblings, David "Beak" Pitre (Mary), Clara Hyde (Adam), Billie Dorries (Bill), Cleveland Pitre (Maxine).  Dorris is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry West; parents, Rev. Manson and Etta Mae Pitre; brothers, Shelton Pitre, Melvin Pitre; sister, Mazel Pitre.  Homegoing services for Dorris will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Christian Life Church of Sulphur.  Burial will follow at Big Woods cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 4 until 8 that evening at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 10 AM at Christian Life Church of Sulphur.
