Obituary: L'Impartial (PEI), Thursday, 1 January 1903: At Ste. Marie, parish of Ste. Anne, Hope River, Tuesday, 16 December, Sieur Maurice Pitre, age 79 years, fell asleep peacefully in the Lord, after a short illness of 5 days, of pneumonia, and equipped with all the spiritual help that our Holy Mother the Church grants to her children. The deceased was one of the pioneers of this parish and had come to settle here, from Rustico, with his wife Appoline Doiron, in 1846. He leaves to cry on his grave a wife, nine children and 32 grandchildren, five of his sons preceded him to the grave. His funeral took place on Thursday, December 18, in the middle of a great congregation of relatives and friends. He belonged to the society of St. Rosary of the Holy Family.

Etienne Pitre: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Monday, 2 August 1926: In Memoriam - Mr. Stephen Peters - The community of New Glasgow, P.E.I., was saddened on Tuesday evening, July 20th, on hearing of the death of Stephen Peters, one of the oldest and most respected residents of that place. Although the deceased had reached the advanced age of 72 years he remained active and took a keen interest in the welfare of his family and friends until a few days before his death when he met with an accident which proved fatal. During his illness he was attended by his pastor, the Rev. Wm. V. MacDonald and fortified by the rites of the Holy Catholic Church of which he was a devoted member, he passed away fully resigned to God's holy will. His memory will long be cherished not only in his home where he was a devoted husband and father but by his numerous friends and neighbors. The funeral took place on Thursday morning, July 22nd, to Hope River Church and was largely attended. The Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. F. X. Gallant, brother of Mrs. Peters, after which all that was mortal of a good and noble man was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery to await a glorious resurrection. Besides a sorrowing widow there are left to mourn six sons, namely, John, Joseph, Dennis, Fred, Paul and Eugene also three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Gauthier, Mrs. Robert Gallant and Rose at home. The pallbearers were Joseph Gallant, Matthew LeClair, Joseph Rogers, Thomas Power, Joseph Gallant and Tenis Pineau. Requiescat in pace.

a solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment, Holy

Dauphine Pitre: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Saturday, 9 July 1949: In Memoriam - Mrs. Hubert Peters - On Sunday, June 12th, there passed to her eternal reward, Mrs. Hubert Peters, aged 79 years. Widowed at an early age, Mrs. Peters not only filled the part of both Father and Mother to her six small children, but had cheer and help to offer all in need. Of a deeply religious nature Mrs. Peters bore four long years of suffering in a truly Christian manner. To her this world was not a 'lasting City' and as her illness developed, she looked more and more to that Celestial City, towards which her mind and heart had ever yearned. Fortified by the last rites of Holy Mother Church and surrounded by her dear ones, who had nursed her so tenderly, she died holily as she had lived. Her funeral took place on Wednesday morning June 15th, from her late residence to St. Dunstan's Basilica where requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. Francis MacDonald, who also officiated at the grave. The pallbearers were Messrs. Peter MacDonald, J. B. Flemming, William Grimes, Charles MacDonald, Peter Pineau and Arthur McQuaid. She leaves to mourn the passing of a loving and devoted mother, two sons and two daughters, viz: George of St. John, N.B., who came home to attend his Mother's Funeral, Cornelius, Mrs. John Bowlan and Cicily, all of this City. One daughter, Jean, predeceased her seven years ago.
