F., France, writes as follows to his mother, Mrs. Theogene Pitre, Route 2, Opelousas, La.:) Dear Mother:  I will write you a few lines.  I am in the hospital, doing fine and feel good.  I have been classed and I think I will soon leave this hospital.  I don't think I will be back by Christmas.  Hope you will have a happy time.  I wish I could get a letter from you; have not got a letter since I have been in France.  I hope to be coming over soon, but nobody can tell just how soon that time will be.  Then I hope I will find everybody happy as usual when I arrive.  Has been raining here quite a bit; is cloudy today and a little bit sticky under the feet.  I am up now, doing a little ward duty helping the patients and help give them their meals.  I am getting plenty to eat, so naturally I am heavier than I used to be.  Have a good bed to sleep in and it just seems like home.  I would like to know how everything is over there - news or changes of any kind.  So far I have read that you had fairly good crops.  I will close for this time.  Hope everybody is well.  Can tell you more when I get home than I can now.  I remain, Your son, Pvt. Moise Pitre.
