Obituary:  Lake Charles American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Wednesday, 20 April 1966: Hathaway - Funeral services for Mayo Pete, 67, were to be at 3 p.m. today from St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Wilfred Sylvester, pastor, officiating.  Burial was to be in Reed Cemetery near Basile.  Mr. Pete died unexpectedly Tuesday morning in his home near Jennings.  A native of Allen Parish, he had lived in the Hathaway area for 13 years after moving from Millerville.  He was a retired employee of the Louisiana Irrigation Milling Co.  A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings.  Survivors are his wife, the former Gustan Reed: seven daughters, Mrs. Edmond Crochet of Hathaway, Mrs. Emerson Lopez, Mrs. Dave Broussard and Mrs. Allen Gary, all of Jennings, Mrs. Eddie Labove of Lake Arthur, Mrs. Melvin Breaux of Lake Charles and Mrs. John Debarge of Kinder.  Also, two sons, Oris J. Pete of Jennings and Clifford Pete of Houma; one sister, Mrs. Eulice Miller of Evangeline; one half-brother, Adam Ardoin of Evangeline; 46 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Obituary:  Hathaway - Funeral services for Mrs. Mayo Pete, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, from St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  The Rev. John Poerio, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Reed Cemetery near Basile under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.  A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today, May 6, in the funeral home chapel.  Mrs. Pete died at 3:40 p.m. Monday (5 May 1975) in the Jenning American Legion Hospital following a lengthy illness.  A native of Acadia Parish, she was the former Augustine Reed.  Survivors are seven daughters, Mrs. Johnny LaBouve of Lake Arthur, Mrs. John DeBarge, Mrs. Emerson Lopez, Mrs. Dave Broussard, and Mrs. Edmond Crochet, all of Hathaway, Mrs. Melvin Breaux of Lake Charles and Mrs. Joseph Bourgeois of Hayes; two sons, Oris Pete of Jennings and Clifford Pete of Morgan City; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Fontenot of Lake Charles; two half-sisters, Mrs. Emily Fontenot of Jennings and Mrs. Mary Guillette of Port Arthur, Tex.; 45 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ezora Pitre:  American Press (Lake Charles, LA), Tuesday, 27 May 2003:  Lake Arthur - Mrs. Ezora Pitre LaBauve, 84, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, in the Jennings hospital.  Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

 

Clamas Pitre:  The Kinder Courier News (Kinder, LA), Thursday, 9 March 1989:  Funeral services for Mrs. Clamas P. DeBarge, age 67, of Jennings were held on Tuesday, February 28 in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Hathaway at 2 p.m.  The Reverend Fred Russi officiated.  Burial was in the Reed Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Homes of Kinder.  Mrs. DeBarge died on Monday, February 27 at 4:26 a.m. in the American Legion Hospital in Jennings after a brief illness.  Born near Basile, Mrs. DeBarge was a resident of Hathaway for the past 15 years.  Survivors include her two sons, Mr. John DeBarge, Jr. of Hathaway and Mr. Norman DeBarge of Kinder; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Perron of Huntsville, Texas; two brothers, Mr. Clifford Pitre of Lake Arthur and Mr. Oris Pitre of Hathaway; five sisters, Mrs. Ezora LaBove  and Mrs. Hilda LaBove, both of Lake Arthur, Mrs. Lillian Lopez of Jennings, Mrs. Helen Breaux of Lake Charles and Mrs. Gertie Broussard of Hathaway; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Amelia Pitre:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Thursday, 12 August 1948:  Crowley, La., Aug. 12 - Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Millerville church will burial at Reed cemetery for Amelia Pitre, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mayo Pitre of near Iota.  She was killed instantly Wednesday when a truck on which she was riding ran into a ditch near Francois Brothers store west of Iota.  The girl was on her way to work, riding on a seat on the bed of the truck with her legs dangling over the side.  The driver suddenly had trouble with the steering gear and lost control of the truck, which swerved.  The girl was thrown into the ditch and a rear wheel of the truck passed over her body as it too went into the ditch.  She died within five minutes.

Hilda Pitre:  Jennings Daily News (Jennings, LA), 1 May 2009:  Mrs. John C. (Hilda Pete) LaBauve - Funeral services for Mrs. John C. (Hilda Pete) LaBauve, 71, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings, with Rev. Austin Spell officiating.  Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1-10 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.  Mrs. LaBauve died at 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, at Jennings American Legion Hospital.  A lifelong resident of Jennings, Mrs. LaBauve was a homemaker.  She was involved in Friends Supporting Friends and Cajun Helpers.  She loved to cook and was an avid Bingo player.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her dogs, Taffy and Ginger.  She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by all.  Survivors include her husband, Mr. John C. 'Bozo' LaBauve of Jennings; three daughters, Gloria (Jerald) Brunette, Jolane (Brian) Dupont and Serena LaBauve, all of Jennings; a special daughter, Phyllis Deshotel of Jennings; three sons, Randy Gary of Iota, Damie LaBauve of Jennings and John LaBauve Jr. of Lafayette; two sisters, Lillian Lopez of Jennings and Helen Breaux of Lake Charles; one brother, Oris Pete of Jennings; a daughter-in-law, Linda Gary; 14 grandchildren, Sadie Gary, Katina (Chris) Stanley, Heather Gary, Branden (Tanya) Dennis, Jamie Dennis, Blake Hebert, Ian LaBauve, Shalyn LaBauve, Tami Courville, Dezra LaBauve, Kyleigh LaBauve, Peyton LaBauve, Branson LaBauve and Chelsea Deshotel; and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mayo and Augustine Reed Pitre; two sons, Roger and Malcolm Gary; infant triplets; one daughter, Gaylynn LaBauve; two brothers, Clifford and Edmond Pitre; five sisters, Clomas DeBarge, Girtie Broussard, Villian Crochet, Ezora LaBauve and Amelia Pitre; three sisters-in-law, Sandra Pete, Versie Mae Pitre and Serice Howard; and five brothers-in-law, John DeBarge, Dave Broussard, Edmond Crochet, Willie LaBauve Sr. and Emerson Lopez.  Pallbearers will be Daniel LeDoux, Terry Crochet, Mark Courville, SSGT. Oris James Pete:  Jennings - Funeral services for Mr. Oris James Pete, 67, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2009 in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating.  Burial will be in the Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.  Funeral home visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 and from 8:00 am until the time of service on Monday.  A rosary led by Mr. Bill Marceaux will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, in the funeral home chapel.  Mr. Pete died at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at his residence.  Mr. Pete was a native of Iota, La. and resided in Jennings for the past 21 years.  He was a foundation driller and was a past member of Long Gulley Hunting Club.  He is survived by three daughters; Jennifer Pete of Basile, La., Maxine Nelson and Penny Nelson of Sierra Vista, Az., a son; Malcom James Pete of Hathaway, La. and two sisters; Lillian Lopez of Jennings, La. and Helen Breaux of Lake Charles, La., 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Mr. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Mayo and Augustine Reed Pitre; his wife, Sandra Dupont Pete, two daughters; Rebecca Ann Pete and Michelle Nicole Pete and a grandson, Thomas O'Neal Deshotel.
