Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Tuesday, 17 July 1962:  Melvin Levi LaShombe. 72, 120 Liberty Ave., died Friday, July 13, 1962, in the Charlebois Nursing Home in Potsdam, where he had been a patient two months.  Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock in St. Mary's Church, Potsdam, and burial was made in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brasher Falls.  Mr. LaShombe was born Mar. 10, 1890, in Brasher, a son of Henry and Anna Lalonde LaShombe.  He attended Brasher Schools and in 1915 married Miss Catherine Dashnaw.  She died in 1948.  He married Mrs. Anna Mae Dillabough, Massena, May 15, 1953.  They lived in Potsdam until about three years ago when they moved to Massena.  He had his own truck in Potsdam but due to failing eyesight, he had to give up that type of business.  Surviving are his wife; two sons and a daughter by the first marriage, Kenneth La Shombe, Potsdam, Ralph LaShombe, Auburn, and Mrs. Hilda Young, Syracuse; 12 grandchildren: two sisters Mrs. Rebah Ormsby, Massena and Mrs. Gertrude Layo, Raybrook; two stepchildren, Bernard LaGrave and Mrs. Jean Silver, Massena.

Obituary:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Monday, 26 April 1948:  Potsdam, April 26 - Mrs. Kate Lashomb, 54, wife of Melvin Lashomb of 9 Francis street, died suddenly at 3 a.m. Saturday at her home following a severe illness of the grip.  The body was removed to the James Sullivan funeral parlors.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church.  Burial will be in Brasher Falls cemetery.  Mrs. Lashomb was born in Malone, July 20, 1893, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dashnaw.  In 1912 she was married to Melvin Lashombe and the couple made their home on farms near Brasher Falls until five years ago when they moved to Potsdam.  Surviving, besides the husband, are three children, Ralph and Kenneth Lashomb and Mrs. Leon (Hilda) Young, all of Potsdam; four grandchildren and one brother, Oliver Dashnaw, St. Regis Falls.

Obituary:  Massena Observer (NY), Thursday, 12 August 1965:  Mrs. Anna Mae Whalen LaGrave LaShomb, 70, formerly of 120 Liberty Ave., died in the Canton Nursing Home at 5 o'clock, Monday afternoon, where she had been a patient one year.  Previously she had been in Massena Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., May 7, 1895, a daughter of Michael and Anna Murphy Whalen.  She was brought up in Louisville, Ky., and attended schools there.  She married Bernard J. LaGrave in Newark, O., June 2, 1921, and they moved to Massena the following year.  He worked at Alcoa and died in June 1933.  She married Melvin L. LaShomb, May 15, 1953, in Potsdam and he died three years ago.  Surviving are one son, Bernard J. LaGrave, Massena; one daughter, Mrs. Francis (Jean) Silver, Louisville and five grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock this morning at Phillips Memorial Home and burial was made in Calvary Cemetery.

Syracuse, Thelmaine L.; 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Military Order of the Purple Hearts.  Friends may call at the Leo M. Bean Funeral Home Inc., 2771 Chili Ave. Wednesday 10-11:30.  Funeral Service 11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home.  Interment Grove Place Cemetery.
