Obituary: The Providence Journal (Providence, RI), Friday, 30 April 2004: Melvin T. Peters, 80, of Carousel Drive, a retired salesman, died Wednesday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Muriel M. (Adams) Peters. Born in Providence, a son of the late Bennett L. and Hazel (Fowkes) Peters, he had lived in East Providence for 15 years. Mr. Peters had been a salesman at the R. B. Cocran Plumbing & Heating Co., in Hyannis, Mass., for several years before retiring. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Raymond Peters of Cranston, Steven Peters of Las Vegas, Nev., and Paul Peters of Boston, and a sister, Virginia Emerich of Cincinnati. The funeral will be private.
