Notes for Marie Emma Cormier:
Obituary: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Friday, 5 January 1943: Mrs. Moses H. Peters - A deep bloom was cast over this vicinity when the death of Emma Cormier, dearly beloved wife of Moses H. Peters and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cormier of Egmont Bay, took place at the Charlottetown Hospital Jan. 2 at the early age of 36 years. Mrs. Peters had been ill for the past year, but bore her sufferings which were at times very severe, with characteristic patience and cheerfulness. But death came peacefully with all the rites of the Roman Catholic church. Mrs. Peters was a loving wife and fond mother and she had a great number of warm friends. She leaves to mourn besides her sorrowing husband, five children, also five brothers and three sisters. The funeral took place from her late residence in Gaytown Jan. 4th to St. Dunstan's Cathedral where Requiem High Mass was sung. There was a large attendance, testifying to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Rev. Father Rooney officiated at the church and Rev. Father St. John at the grave. The pallbearers were Messrs. Cyrus Vessey, Geo. J. Vessey, Alexander Vessey, Capt. Wm. Burke, Thomas White and Joseph Peters. There were many handsome floral tributes, also many spiritual bouquets.

Catherine Peters: Hennessey Cutcliffe Funeral
Home (Charlottetown, PEI): Sister Catherine ‘Cappy’ Peters, CND
1932-2009: After a long and courageous challenge with cancer, Sister
Catherine "Cappy" Peters, CND died February 25, 2009 at Rocky Mountain House
Hospital, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, in her 78th year. Cappy's gifts,
talents and unstinting generosity touched the lives of many people in both
Eastern and Western Canada. As professor of Home Economics at St. FX for
30 years, she shared her passion for teaching young adults the skills that they
could use to contribute to society. Then, in 1991, when she went west, she
continued her passion for teaching, now in informal ways, through discussion
groups, bible study groups, and peace education with staff and students at Ecole
Rocky Elementary, as well as with staff and students at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys
School in Innisfail, AB. In addition, Cappy's gift of hospitality and
welcome touched the lives of all CNDs in Alberta so that "Rocky" became the
center of celebration for special occasions. Many people in the town also
benefited from Cappy's warm hospitality. She leaves behind a legacy of
caring, compassion and justice for the equality of all. Sister Cappy is
survived by her family, sister Patricia "Trish" MacMillan of
Charlottetown, brother Pete Peters of Prince George, BC, niece Jo-Ann
(Allan) MacDonald, grand-niece Meaghan MacDonald of Charlottetown,
sisters-in-law Doreen Peters of Charlottetown and Eileen Peters of
Summerside. She is also survived by the Congregation of Notre Dame, in
particular Sister Margie MacDonell of Rocky Mountain House and other CNDs
living in Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents Moses and
Josephine Peters, brothers Clarence and W.B. Benny Peters, sister and
brother-in-law Faustina and Ambrose Weatherbie, nephew Terrence
Peters, and sister-in-law June Peters. A prayer vigil was held
at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Rocky Mountain House on Friday, February 27,
2009 at 8:00 p.m. Cappy will be flown to Charlottetown for a vigil at
Notre Dame Convent on Monday, March 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., followed by a
funeral liturgy at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer on Tuesday, March 3 at
10 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date in The Roman Catholic
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sister Cappy's memory
may be made to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation or the Palliative Care
Unit of the Prince Edward Home. Completion of funeral arrangements
entrusted to the Hennessey Funeral Home.
