Excerpts from Orleans County Monitor:

- 2 October 1905Mitchell Lapete is working for the Bell Telephone Company on the line between here and Newport.

- 18 December 1905 Mitchel Lapete, while pressing hay for William Brown last Saturday, had a very painful accident, breaking his leg.  It is a compound fracture between the knee and ankle.  Local physicians were summoned and made him as comfortable as possible, and yesterday Dr. Bazin of the Montreal General Hospital took out a piece of bone, and it is hoped the leg can be saved.

- 3 September 1906 – Wednesday Mitchel Lepete underwent a surgical operation on the leg broken last spring.
