Obituary: Hartford Courant (Hartford, CT), Monday, 30 August 1999: Lawrence "Russ" Peterson of Enfield, a retired tobacco worker, died Saturday at his home. He was 72. Born in Granby, he worked for Hartman Tobacco, the I. H. Woodworth Farm and Enfield Shade Tobacco, where he retired as a farm manager. He was a charter member of the Enfield Lodge of Elks 2222, a super-numerary for the Enfield Police Department, and a World War II Army Air Forces veteran. He was a caller for area square-dance clubs and communicant of St. Bernard's Church. He leaves his wife, Jean E. Nolan Peterson; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Joseph Panek of Florida and Joseph and Lois Tetro of Windsor Locks; two nephews and their wives; a great-niece and her husband; a great-nephew; and a great-great-niece. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road in Enfield, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations made be made to the American Cancer Society.
