Obituary: Ironwood Daily Globe IMI), Tuesday, 24 August 1937: Aged Logger Dies - Munising - Louis Peters, 78, died at his home at 215 West Onota street Friday morning. He was born April 3, 1869 (sic 1859), in Alfred, Ontario, and came to Munising in 1900. He was long associated with the logging operations in the county with the T. H. Wooster company, Standard Tie company, and Munising Paper company in timber production. Mr. Peters was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Elks lodges. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Catherine, a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Peck, and three brothers, Frank of Detroit, Adolph of Sudbury, Ontario, and Gedeon of Ludington and six sisters in Ontario.

Obituary: Lansing State Journal (MI), Saturday, 17 May 1947: Grand Ledge, May 17 - Sarah Catherine Peters, 92, died early Friday morning at the home of her grandson, Dr. L.A. Peck, 418 Harrison street. She was born October 27, 1854, at St. Joseph, the daughter of Jacob and Margaret Ann Shearer and had lived in this community for the past five years. She was a life member of the Rebekah lodge of Munising. She is survived by one brother, Wirt Myers of Denver, Colorado; one grandson, Dr. L.A. Peck of Grand Ledge; two nieces, Mrs. John Hoopingarner of Berrien Springs and Mrs. Morris Wright of Selfridge; four nephews, Marshall and Mark Shearer of St. Joseph, Ogden Hotchkiss of Allegan, and Leo Peters of Munising; and four great-grandchildren of Grand Ledge. The body was removed to the Peters funeral home where services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Claud W. Satterlee officiating. Interment will be made in Oakwood cemetery Monday morning at 10 o'clock.
