Obituary: The Daily Examiner (PEI), Thursday, 17 March 1887: At Bear River, on the 9th inst., Annie, the beloved wife of John Campbell, in the 48th year of her age, leaving a husband and two sons and five daughters to mourn her loss. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her for her many endearing qualities, and her memory will be long cherished by relatives and friends. May her soul rest in peace.

Obituary: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Saturday, 13 June 1925: The death took place at her home at Bear River on May 23rd of Mrs. Lawrence McDonald at the age of 77 years. Deceased was a daughter of the late Lawrence Peters, Rollo Bay. She leaves to mourn besides her husband one son Joseph. The service in the church being concluded the cortege wended its way to the adjoining cemetery where the last sad rites were performed by her Pastor Rev. Father MacPherson. The deceased was a lady of splendid qualities and highly respected in the community. She leaves to mourn one sister Mrs. George Campion, Colorado. The following sisters predeceased her: Mrs. John Campbell, Bear River; Mrs. Allan McDonald, Little Pond; Mrs. Gabriel Deagle, Rollo Bay; Mrs. Captain Ledwell, Vancouver, B.C.; Agnes at Rollo Bay; Lucy in Battle City, Montana.

Obituary: The Province (Vancouver, BC), Thursday, 2 August 1917: Captain Bereaved - Mrs. Ledwell Passed Away Yesterday afternoon at Vancouver Home - Mrs. Ellen Ledwell, wife of Capt. E. J. Ledwell, died yesterday afternoon at the residence, 1078 Pacific street, at the age of 57. Much sympathy is being accorded Captain Ledwell on his bereavement. He was formerly in the Canadian fisheries protection service. A daughter and two sons are also left to mourn the loss.
- Misc.: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Friday, 15 November 1946: Vancouver Island Visitor Returns - Mrs. Adams of Browns Bay, near the famous Seymour Narrows returned recently after a visit of one week to Prince Edward Island, where she visited relatives in Charlottetown and Kensington. Mrs. Adams maiden name was Marian Ledwell, daughter of the late Capt. Patrick Ledwell who sailed Peake Bros. squareriggers for many years to Europe and South America, Mrs. Adams maternal ancestor before marriage was a Miss Peters of Rollo Bay, P.E.I. Mrs. Adams had with her among many clippings and documents of early days a baptismal certificate of her great-grandfather Peters of Rollo Bay, bearing the date of September, 1809, signed by the famous Aeneas McEachern first bishop of Charlottetown. Mrs. Adams was born in Vancouver and this was her first visit to Prince Edward Island. She marvelled at the comparative thickly populated localities here.

Misc.: In obituaries for George's brother, John Francis Campion (1848-1916), it's noted that their parents were natives of PEI and of Scots descent. In 1862 their "parents moved to California, but being desirous that their sons should receive educational advantages, he (John) was sent back with his brother to his childhood home, where they attended the Prince of Wales college at Charlottetown. The boys ran away from school to enlist in the United States navy, George F. who was 15, was rejected. John F., who was 17, was accepted at Boston, enlisted, and after passing a satisfactory examination was appointed assistant quartermaster."
