Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 15 August 1967: Melville - Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Pentacostal Church of Melville of Leon Pitre Sr., 59, who died Thursday. Rev. Ray Majors officiated at the services and burial was in Bayou Rouge cemetery, directed by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Survivors are his widow, the former Ivy Darbonne; three sons, James Nolan Pitre, Abbeville, Leon Pitre Jr. and Rhunise Pitre, both of Melville; two daughters, Mrs. Preston Dupont and Mrs. Louis Boudreaux, both of Melville; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Deville, Melville, and Mrs. Ayma Veillon, Eunice; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 30 January 1989: Melville - Funeral services for Mrs. Ivy Pitre, 78, were to be held at 1 p.m. today in the Pentecostal Church here with burial in the Pentecostal Cemetery in Bayou Rouge. Brother Ray Majors conducted the services. Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Melville, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday in Doctors' Hospital in Opelousas. Survivors include three sons, James and Rhunise "Ron" Pitre, both of Opelousas and Leon Pitre Jr. of Youngsville; two daughters, Mary Lee Dupont and Anna Lee Boudreaux, both of Melville; a brother, Hubert Darbonne of Melville; nine sisters, Emma Mae Phillip and Ursie Guillot, both of Melville, Virgin LeDoux, Verdney LeDoux and Lee Anna Firmin, all of Palmetto, Lora Mae Davison of Montgomery, Amarone Soileau of Carencro, Rena LeDoux of Opelousas and Velma Escott of Opelousas; 19 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 19 step-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Melville. Survivors include her husband, Louis Boudreaux, Jr. of Melville; one son, Danny Ray Boudreaux and wife, Brenda of Oscar, LA; two daughters: Sherry Duvall and husband, Virgil Duvall of Melville; and Christine Jones and husband, Ronald "Ron" Jones of Hurst, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Pitre, Sr.; her mother, Ivy Darbonne Pitre; one daughter, Barbara Ann Boudreaux; one son, James Roland Boudreaux; three brothers, J.N. Leon Pitre: Macon, Miss.: Funeral services for Mr. Leon Pitre Jr., 61, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Macon Pentecostal Church here with burial in Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Miss. The Rev. Jimmy Guy will conduct the services. Mr. Pitre, a native of Melville and a resident of Columbus, Miss., for 10 years, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, September 10, 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired after 28 years of service in the oilfield and was employed with Lowndes County School Board in Columbus, Miss. Survivors include: his wife, Doris Pitre of Columbus, Miss.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Virginia Pitre of Columbus, Miss.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ivy Jean P. and Dwight Derise of Jeanerette and Sandra P. and Dennis Pitre of Gonzales; a sister, Annie Lee Boudreaux of Melville; six grandchildren, Amanda, Melinda and Danielle Pitre, Joshua and Jordan Derise, and John Leon Pitre. Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by two brothers, Rhunise Pitre and James N. Pitre; and two sisters, Mary Lee Dupont and Francis Pitre. Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visiting hours were observed from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Gunter & Peel Funeral Home in Columbus, Miss., which was in charge of arrangements.
