The Estate of Louis Charles Pitre:
- On 19th October 1847 Florence Jeansonne, who had been appointed administrator of the estate of Louis Charles Pitre & Felonise Joubert, petitions the court to make an inventory, appoint a tutor for the minor children, and plan for the estate to be sold. A family meeting will be composed of the nearest relatives of minors Cleonise Pitre & Celanie Pitre. On 20 October 1847, at the residence of the late Louis Charles Pitre (about 8 miles from the courthouse) an inventory is taken which includes the Plantation in Prairie Ronde (6 arpents front x 40 arpents depth, bounded on the northeast by lands of Francois Poupon Pitre, northwest by lands of the heirs of D. Arkinson, southwest by lands of Yves Davy and southeast by lands of Francois Poupon Pitre (value $500); a Negro man named James aged 38 (value $800), a mulatto boy named Prospere aged 13 (value $350); 167 head of cattle ($667); 3 pairs of work beeves ($75); 17 horses ($88); 25 hogs ($25); crop in field ($70); a caliche ($20); horse cart & beef cart ($15); misc household items ($220.50); total $2830.50; plus notes in the deceased's papers totalling $110. Witnesses to the inventory are Pierre Pitre & F.L. Pitre. On 19th October 1847 a family meeting regarding Cleonise Louis Pitre & Celanie Louis Pitre, minor children of Felonise Joubert & Louis Charles Pitre, is attended by Charles Pitre (paternal uncle), Onezime Joubert (maternal uncle), Jean Baptiste Roy, Auguste Ledoux & Antoine Ledoux (uncles by marriage), Pierre Pitre & Auguste Foret, the nearest relatives. Charles Pitre is appointed tutor and Francois Poupon Pitre under tutor. Signed and agreed to sell the estate and appoint tutor (Florence Johnson, husband of Azelie Louis Pitre heir). On 4 October 1850 a petition is filed for final settlement from Florence Jeansonne for Celanie Pitre & Cleonise Pitre (wife of Jean Baptiste Cormier). Total sum from the sale of the estates of Felonise Joubert & Louis Charles Pitre is $9832.57. One-third each to Azeline Pitre (wife of Florence Jeansonne), Cleonise Pitre (wife of Jean Baptiste Cormier), and Celanie Pitre (tutor Charles Pitre).
