Obituary for the son:
Olivier Albert Lajambe: The Gazette (Montreal, Quebec), Saturday, 27 January 2018: (photo) Olivier Lajambe, March 4, 1924 - January 24, 2018: Surrounded by his family, Major Olivier Albert Lajambe passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018 in Paris, France. Olivier was born in Toronto, Canada to Rose Emma Leger Lajambe (1896-1988) and Olivier Lajambe (1879-1931). Beloved and devoted son, husband, father and grandfather, he lives on in the hearts and memories of his wife Helene Connor, his children Christian, Eric, Ariane and Madeleine, and of his granddaughter Jessica. Major Lajambe led a distinguished military career for which he was highly decorated. "Al," as he was known to his military comrades, served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in England during World War II. As a mid-upper air gunner on Lancaster bombers in Squadron 405 of the Pathfinder Force, he completed 45 missions over occupied Europe. After the war, this self-professed Francophile joined the "Vandoos," the Royal 22nd Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces in Quebec City with which he served in Korea as a mortar platoon commander. He later served in the Middle East (1968-69) as a "Blue Beret," part of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Palestine. A modest man despite his accomplishments, Olivier will always be remembered for his big heart, thoughtfulness, courage, as well as for his love of Canada and his complete devotion to his family.
