Pitre the recipe for a certain proprietary remedy known as Pitre's Rub-er More, manufacture, buy, sell, and deal.  Board of directors to be Clinton J. Pitre (president/treasurer), Chas. Oschwald and Louis E. Pitre (vice-president).  Product is for rheumatism, cuts, bruises and all pains

- The Donaldsonville Chief (Donaldsonville, LA), Saturday, 28 March 1914:  Louis E. Pitre, of Rub-Er-More fame, has entered the employ of the local office of the Singer Sewing Machine Company in the capacity of traveling salesman, succeeding John B. Martin, who was recently promoted to the management of the Monroe district.  Mr. Pitre is a hustler and enjoys a wide acquaintance throughout this section, hence he should have no difficulty in making good in his new field of endeavor.

 

Obituary:  New Orleans States (New Orleans, LA), Monday, 5 December 1938:  On Sunday, December 4, 1938, at 3:30 o'clock a.m., Louis E. Pitre, Sr., husband of Anna M. Maunoir, father of Lee, Louis E., Jr., Woodrow W., Gaston B. and Marie Pitre and Mrs. John Kenney and Mrs. Frank Armstrong.  Funeral took place from the home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, Inc., 4127 South Claiborne avenue, near Milan street, Monday afternoon, December 5, 1938, at 3 o'clock, followed by services at St. Anthony's church, Canal and Olympia streets.  Interment in Cypress Grove cemetery.

B., Louis E. and Woodrow W. Pitre, also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a native of Convent, La., and a resident of New Orleans, La., for the past 49 years.  Relatives and friends of the family, also the ladies of the Maison Hospitaliere are invited to attend the funeral.  Services from the Laudumier Funeral Home, 1225 North Rampart Street (parking entrance adjoining), on Saturday, May 9, 1964, at 8:30 o'clock a.m., followed by Mass at St. Louis Cathedral.  Interment in Cypress Grove Cemetery.

Gaston Bryan Pitre:  Mobile Register (Mobile, AL), Saturday, 2 March 1974:  Mr. Gaston Bryan Pitre Sr. - A native of Lutcher, La., and a resident of Mobile for the past year.  He was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church and was a member of the Pioneers of Southern Bell Telephone Company.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marion J. Key Pitre of Mobile; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne J. (Marion) Anderton of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. Ronald K. (Janet) Pederson, of Mobile; and Miss Barbara Ann Pitre of Mobile; one son, Gaston Bryan Pitre Jr., of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Armstrong and Miss Marie Pitre both of New Orleans, La. and Mrs. Rita Portney of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Woodrow Pitre of Lafayette, La.; four grandchildren and one great-grandson and other relatives.  The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 1974, at Belmany Funeral Home, after which his remains will be sent to New Orleans.  The Rosary will be said Saturday, March 2, 1974, at 1 p.m. followed by entombment in Hope Mausoleum, St. John's Cemetery, New Orleans.  The family will receive friends in New Orleans at Jacob-Schoen Funeral Home, after 4 p.m. Sunday.  Local funeral arrangements by Belmany Funeral Home, Mobile, Ala.

Louis Emile Pitre:  The Times (Shreveport, LA), Thursday, 4 March 1965:  Alexandria - Louis E. Pitre Jr., 54, of Pineville, died in a Pineville hospital Wednesday.  He was a real estate salesman and a native of Donaldsonville.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.  Survivors are his widow; two brothers, W. W. Pitre of Lafayette and G. B. Pitre of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Miss Marie Pitre and Mrs. Lula Armstrong of New Orleans, and Mrs. Rita Portnoy of Dallas, Tex.

 

Marie Anna Pitre:  The Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA): New Orleans - Marie Anna Pitre, retired Charity Hospital secretary, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012 in her 99th year.  She was the daughter of the late Anna Maunoir Pitre and Louis E. Pitre.  Sister of the late G. Bryan Pitre, Louis E. Pitre, Jr., Margarite (Lula) Pitre Armstrong , Woodrow Wilson Pitre, Lee Pitre, Rita Pitre Portnoy, aunt of Martin Kenney, Sr., Evelyn Roussel, Jeanne Pitre Soileau, Woodrow Lee Pitre and many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.  Marie was a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of New Orleans and Metairie for many years.  Although she never married, she was a surrogate mother to many of us, offering unconditional love, good advice and care.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 P.M.  Interment will be in Cypress Grove Cemetery on a later date.

 

Woodrow Wilson Pitre:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Sunday, 25 October 2009:  (photo)  Lafayette - Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009 at a 2 p.m. Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Woodrow Wilson Pitre, 92, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center.  Reverend Luiz Dutra will officiate the services.  Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Here I Am Lord", "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "I Can Only Imagine".  Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne Pitre Soileau of New Iberia, LA; one son Woodrow Lee Pitre and his wife, Janice of Inverness, FL; five grandchildren, Ida Eve Heckenbach, Richard Anthony Soileau, Virginia Lee Soileau, Virginia V. Roberge and Eric Pitre; five great-grandchildren, Monique Eve Soileau, Mason Chase Soileau, Hannah Vossen, Leyla Gentil and Guillaume Gentil; and one sister, Marie A. Pitre.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Bassett Pitre; his second wife, Joyce Gilmore Pitre; his parents, Louis Emile and Anna Sylvia Maunoir Pitre; and his siblings.  A native of St. James, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for over 62 years, Mr. Pitre was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.  He was an outgoing optimistic man who worked as a salesman most of his life.  His first loves in life were his family whom he enjoyed spending time with.  Mr. Pitre also enjoyed playing bouree' and golf in his spare time.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Pallbearers will be Hannah Vossen, Monique Soileau, Virginia Soileau, Richard Soileau, Mason Soileau and Virginia Roberge.  The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services.

 

Rita Sophie Pitre:  The Dallas Morning News (Dallas, TX), Friday, 21 November 2003:  Portnoy, Rita Pitre, native of New Orleans, LA, passed away November 18, 2003 in Richardson, TX.  Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Morris Portnoy.  Survived by four children: Martin Kenney of Metairie, LA and Noel, Ronald and Roslyn Portnoy of Dallas, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  Memorial services will be held in Dallas at Congregation Tiferet Israel, on Saturday, November 22, 2003, 6:30 p.m.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Visiting Nurses Association or Jewish Family Services.
