Pitre, Jr., Margarite (Lula) Pitre Armstrong , Woodrow Wilson Pitre, Lee Pitre, Rita Pitre Portnoy, aunt of Martin Kenney, Sr., Evelyn Roussel, Jeanne Pitre Soileau, Woodrow Lee Pitre and many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Marie was a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of New Orleans and Metairie for many years. Although she never married, she was a surrogate mother to many of us, offering unconditional love, good advice and care. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be in Cypress Grove Cemetery on a later date.

A native of St. James, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for over 62 years, Mr. Pitre was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He was an outgoing optimistic man who worked as a salesman most of his life. His first loves in life were his family whom he enjoyed spending time with. Mr. Pitre also enjoyed playing bouree' and golf in his spare time. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Hannah Vossen, Monique Soileau, Virginia Soileau, Richard Soileau, Mason Soileau and Virginia Roberge. The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
