Obituary: The Evening Gazette (Worcester, MA), Monday, 28 June 1982: Whitinsville - Leo J. Petrie, 75, of 74 Sullivan Drive died Friday in Blackstone Nursing Home, Blackstone. He was a machinist 30 years at Whitin Machine Works before retiring in 1970. He leaves his wife, Violet (Forsythe) Petrie; a daughter, Linda Buxton of Concord, N.H.; two brothers, Eugene Petrie of Seattle, Wash., and Raymond Petrie of Long Island, N.Y.; four sisters, Marie Jussaume of Whitinsville, Irene Jones of Mount Holly, N.J., Alma Colby of Jamaica Plain and Hilda Bardon of Bell Gardens, Calif., and two grandchildren. Born in Orono, Maine, he was a son of Joseph and Alexena (Frigeault) Petrie, and lived in Whitinsville 45 years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. The funeral will be tomorrow from Carr Funeral Home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 this evening.

Obituary: Concord Monitor (Concord, NH), Wednesday, 28 April 1999: Pembroke - Violet Petrie, 88, of Route 28, died Monday in Concord Hospital. She was born in Northbridge, Mass., the daughter of William and Clara (Hopkins) Forsythe. She lived in Whitinsville, Mass. until 1985 when she moved to Pembroke. She attended Northbridge, Mass. schools. She was an assembler at the former General Electric Telechron plant in Ashland, Mass. for many years. She retired in 1974. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Whitinsville, Mass. She enjoyed knitting and reading. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Petrie. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Williams, with whom she lived, and two grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. A funeral will be held Saturday morning from the Carr Funeral Home, Whitinsville, Mass., followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint Peter's Church, Northbridge, Mass. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville, Mass.
