Obituary: Boston Herald (Boston, MA), Saturday, 18 August 1956: Services today for Lorne Peters of Boston Mutual - Services for Lorne J. Peters, 58, of 8 Alarie St., West Roxbury, agencies sales director for the Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co., will be held today with a 9 a.m. mass at St. Theresa's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. Mr. Peters, who died Thursday at his home, was born in Prince Edward Island. He entered the insurance business in the Boston Mutual in 1923, as a field man. He subsequently served as assistant manager in Salem and as district manager in Pawtucket, R.I. Prior to becoming agencies sales director, in 1954, he was assistant superintendent of agencies. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Winifred Welch Peters; a daughter, Mrs. Francis Gorham of Portland; a son, James G. of Quincy; two brothers, Edwin and Victor, both of Prince Edward Island; and four sisters, Mrs. Adeline Fisher, Mrs. Zetta McDonald and Mrs. Geraldine McDonnell, all of West Roxbury, and Sister St. Wenceslaus of Chicago.

James Gordon Peters: Braintree Forum (MA), 24 May 2006: James C. Peters, 80, of Braintree, a retired contractor and a Navy veteran of World War II, died May 15, 2006 at Cohasset Knoll Nursing Home. Mr. Peters worked on the South Shore for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He also worked at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy and for the Postal Service. Mr. Peters was a country and western entertainer for several years in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He lived in Hull before moving to Braintree 15 years ago. Mr. Peters was past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Hull. He enjoyed golfing. When he was a teenager he spent summers at golf camp. Husband of the late Marie F. (Roberts) Peters, he leaves two daughters, Karen Zemotel and Joanne Peters of Hull; three sons, James G. Peters Jr. and Robert J. Peters of Hull and William F. Peters of Carver; two sisters, Lorna Gorham of Maine and Dorothy Leaver of Canada; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ann's Church, Samoset Avenue and Lewis Street, Hull. Burial was in Hull Village Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham.
