Obituary: Ogdensburg Advance, Sunday, 11 June 1989: Massena - Funeral services for Lawrence H. LaShomb, 64, 72 Grove St., will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Msgr. John Pendergast, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Phillip's Memorial Home this afternoon and evening. The Knights of Columbus 1141 will hold a special service at 7:30 p.m. Mr. LaShomb died Friday (June 9, 1989) at his home. He had been in failing health for the past 18 months. He is survived by his wife, Fleurette; three daughters, Sheila Harrod of Massena, Mrs. Victor (Susan) Bader of Oriskany, Mary LaShomb of Massena; four sons, Roger, Joseph, Philip and Timothy, all of Massena; three sisters, Martha Barkley of Massena, Mrs. Edward (Patricia) LaDue of Rochester, Mrs. Dale (Janet) Deshane of Brasher; three brothers, James of Brasher, William of Massena, Gary of Balston Spa; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Gerald, and one sister, Dorothy LaShomb. Mr. LaShomb was born in Brasher April 26, 1925, the son of Walter and Mildred (Monica) LaShomb. He attended Brasher schools and served in the U.S. Navy Air Force during World War II. He later worked as an inspector in Accessory Finish at Alcoa and retired in 1978. Since his retirement, he worked part-time in electrical work. He married Fleurette LaLonde, May 30, 1945 at St. Patrick's Church in Brasher with the Rev. John Kotter, officiating. Mr. LaShomb was a past member of the Massena Rescue Squad and a member of the Massena Rod and Gun Club and the Knights of Columbus. Memorial contributions may be made to the Massena Rescue Squad or the Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

Sheila M. Harrod, 61, of 20 Rockaway St., died Monday at her home after a
short illness with lung cancer. Ms. Harrod worked the last few years at
St. Lawrence County Chemical Dependency, Canton. Born Nov. 20, 1947, in
Massena, daughter of Lawrence and Fleurette LaLonde LaShomb, she attended
school at Sacred Heart and Holy Family High Schools. A marriage to
Roger Harrod ended in divorce. She enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking,
and collecting donations for local animal shelters and Renewal House of Canton.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Kara and Jonathan Rourke,
Arlington, Va.; a son and his wife, David and Patricia, Rixeyville, Va.;
her mother, Fleurette LaShomb, Massena; four brothers and a
sister-in-law, Roger L. and Julia, Joseph R. and Phillip B. LaShomb, all
of Massena, and Timothy LaShomb, Potsdam; two sisters and a
brother-in-law, Susan and Vic Bader, Oriskany, and Mary Hall,
Massena; and two grandsons. A celebration of life service will be at 11
a.m. Thursday at Phillips Memorial Home. Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Humane Society, Renewal House or
Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
