Obituary: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Thursday, 27 June 1946: In Memoriam – Lawrence Peters – A sad gloom was passed over the whole countryside when they learned of the passing of the late Lawrence Peters of North Rustico at the early age of 52 years. Although taken suddenly ill on the 9th of June he was rushed by ambulance to the Charlottetown Hospital where the doctors performed an emergency operation which was of no avail. And his spirit took flight to the God who gave it on the 14th. The late Lawrence Peters was fortified by the last rites of Holy Mother Church by the Rev. W. J. McCabe of which he was a faithful member. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society; also an active member of the No. 13 Branch of the Canadian Legion B. E. S. L. The late comrade Peters served in U.S. Army in France in World War No. 1. He was of kind disposition, a loving husband and father, a man who knew no enemies and always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, one son and three daughters namely: Louis, (Emma) Mrs. Harold Doucette, Beatrice and Frances at home. The funeral was held under the direction of the Canadian Legion to Stella Maris Church where Requiem Mass was sung by his pastor, Rev. Father J. D. McNeill who also officiated at the grave. Last Post and Reveille was sounded by Bugler Arsenault. The honorary pall bearers were as follows: John L. Doiron, George LeClair, William V. Gauthier, Simon LeClair, Edward Blacquiere and Vincent Blacquiere. Active pall bearers were as follows: James J. Doiron, Edgar J. Beattie was the beloved mother of Justin (Imelda), Gordon (Marie), Larry, and Glen (Diane); grandmother of Shannon Johnston (Randy), Sharlene Hambly (Matthew) and Kory Gallant; Amie Drugea (Sebastian) and Gordie Gallant; Jason Gallant; and Darcy Gallant (Vicki) and Melissa Fields (Landen); step-grandmother of five; great-grandmother of six; and step-great-grandmother of one. She is also survived by her sister, Frances "Fannie" Gallant (George); and numerous nieces and nephews. Beattie was predeceased by her husband, Leo "Cye"; infant son, Earl; sister, Emma Doucette (Harold); brother, Louis Peters (Marion); and her parents, Lawrence and Mary Anne (Blacquiere) Peters. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, September 30, 2011, 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico on Saturday October 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Church Cemetery.

Frances 'Fanny' Peters: Central Queen's Funeral Home (PEI): Mary Frances “Fanny” Carmel Gallant (nee Peters) passed peacefully with family by her side at Whisperwood Villa, Charlottetown, on Monday, August 15, 2022, of Whisperwood Villa and formerly of Rustico, aged 88. Fanny was the beloved wife of the late George Wellington Gallant, and dear mother of Lennie Gallant (Patricia Richard); Anne Steele (deceased) Kevin; Danny Gallant (Marsha); Mark Gallant (Tracy); Keith Gallant (Tammy); and Karen Gallant (Allan Vail). She was the precious grandmother of Tyler; Matthew (Julia); Jeremy, Mitchell, Jonathan, Lucas; Rowen, Caleb (Nicole); Calvin, Jacob, Jenna Marie, and Devin and great-grandmother of Zinnia. She is also survived by her siblings-in-law. Besides her husband, George, Fanny was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence, and Mary Ann (Blacquiere) Peters; parents-in-law, Amos and Edna (Buote) Gallant, her daughter Anne; and her siblings, Emma Doucette (Harold), Beatrice Gallant (Leo) and Louis Peters (Marion). Fanny was a long-time resident of Rustico, and later Whisperwood Villa. She was a dedicated member of the St. Augustine’s Church Choir, the CWL, the Farmers Bank Museum, and Correspondent for the Northern Star for many years. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visitation on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Masks are strongly recommended. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico and will be recorded for viewing later, on the Central Queen’s Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will take place in St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Rustico. If so desired, donations in memory of Fanny to Mitchell Foren’s YWAM (Youth With A Mission) Fund, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
