Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 4 March 1966: Ville Platte - Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Louis Pitre, 57, of the Grand Prairie section, who died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette at 2:15 a.m. Thursday. Surviving are his widow, the former Etta Deville; one brother, William Pitre of Port Arthur, and one sister, Mrs. Hubert Fontenot of Grand Prairie. Interment was in the church cemetery with Ardoin Funeral Home in charge.

Obituary: The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Monday, 1 March 1976: Grand Prairie - A Washington, La. woman was fatally injured near here Saturday morning when she was struck by an automobile as she crossed Louisiana 163. Mrs. Etta Pitre, 62, Star Rt. Box 40, Washington, was killed at about 8:40 a.m. Saturday. The accident took place about 2.3 miles south of Grand Prairie. Charges have been brought against Lois M. Richard of Washington, 20, driver of the vehicle that struck Mrs. Pitre. State Police Troop K officials said the vehicle had crossed the center line of the highway. Mrs. Pitre is survived by one sister, Mrs. Linton Doucet of Grand Prairie. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at the Sacred Heart Church, in Ville Platte, with burial in the church cemetery. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte was in charge of arrangements.
