Saturday, 30 August 1975: Bathurst - The death of Thomas Pitre,
450 Blossom Lane, occurred Thursday at Chaleur General Hospital after a month as
a patient. He was 62. Born in Bathurst, he was a son of the late
Thomas and Marie (Guitard) Pitre. He was a lifelong resident of
Bathurst. He was a member of the maintenance staff at Chaleur General
Hospital and at the former Hotel Dieu for a period of nine years and belonged to
the Canadian Union of Public Employees local at the hospital. Prior to
taking up this employment he was a plastering contractor. He was also a
member of the parish committee at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Robichaud; four sons, Alban,
Toronto; Gilles, Moncton; Jean Guy and Daniel at home; two
daughters, Lilianne, Toronto and Mrs. Danny Godin (Marguerite)
Bathurst; a brother, Hector, Bathurst; three sisters, Mrs. Anna
Lanteigne and Mrs. Joseph Kelty (Freda), both of Belledune and Mrs.
Leonard Lavigne (Celina), Montreal and three grandchildren. The body
is resting at Elhatton's Funeral Home and funeral mass will be held Sunday at 7
p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church followed by interment in the parish
cemetery.
