Born in Beresford, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pitre. He is survived by his wife, the former Hilda DeGrace; three daughters, Mrs. Edward McIntosh, Lydia, Seven Islands; Mrs. Emery Vienneau (Ida), Beresford; Mrs. Lucien Duguay (Leona), Hamilton, Ont.; seven sons Ernest, Beresford; Edmond, Ont.; Gerard, Arthur, Leonard, and Leofred all of Beresford. The body is at Verret's Funeral Home, Nigadoo. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 4 p.m. from St. Ann de Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Beresford. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

He was the son of the late Theodore Pitre and the late Hilda DeGrace of Beresford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Herman (Murielle) and Leo (Viola), both of Bathurst and Reginald (Gilberte) of Beresford; five daughters: Hilda and Carmella (Hermel Vienneau), both of Beresford, Ginnette (Jean-Guy Daigle) of Dunlop, Nicole Bourque and Murielle (Charles Roy), both of Pointe-Verte; a daughter-in-law, Albina Pitre of Bertrand; four brothers: Leonard (Adeline), Leofred (Virginie) and Arthur (Irene), all of Beresford and Edmond of Toronto, Ont.; three sisters: Leona (Lucien Duguay), Ida (Emery Vienneau) and Lydia (Sonny McLaughlin), all of Beresford; one sister-in-law, Irma Pitre of Toronto; a godson, Raymond Frenette of Shediac, as well as 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Surrounded by her family she passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years. Born February 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Pitre (1984) and the late Hilda (Degrace) Pitre (1989) of Beresford. She is survived by six sons: Jean-Claude (Nicole) Beresford, Ronald (Jocelyne) Haut-Shippagan, Maurice (Fernande) Notre-Dame, Paul (Charline) Nigadoo, Marc (Lucie) Dieppe and Roland of Halifax, N.-E.; 8 grandchildren: Stephane and Martin, Isabelle and Cedric, Melissa and Jeremie, Benoit, Paul-Andre; two brothers: Leonard Pitre (Adeline) Bathurst and Leofred Pitre (Georgina) Nigadoo; her dear little sister, her great friend, Leona Duguay (Lucien) Beresford, and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Surrounded by her loving family, Leona went home on September 8, 2019. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lucien Duguay and seven children - Diane, Jackie, Denise (Doug), Lorraine (Bob), Monica (Todd), Mike (Tammy), and Claudelle (Robert) as well as 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother - Leofred (Georgina) Pitre, sisters-in-law Erma (Bill) Pitre of Toronto, Lilliane (Gerald) Duguay, Delcina (Alvin) Duguay, Helen (Arnold) Duguay, Yvonne (Alyre) Duguay and Julie-Anne (Rodrigue) Duguay and brother-in-law Marc Duguay - all of Beresford, NB. She was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and though she suffered in her final years with Alzheimers, she knew how much she was cherished. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cambridge, ON.
