Obituary: 29 March 1984: The death of Theodore Pitre, Beresford, occurred March 29 at Chaleur General Hospital at the age of 89. He was the last surviving member of his family. Born in Beresford, Mr. Pitre was a son of Peter and Elizabeth (Doucet) Pitre. Besides his wife Hilda (DeGrace), Mr. Pitre is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edward McIntosh (Lydia), Sept Iles, Quebec; Mrs. Emery Vienneau (Ida), Beresford; and Mrs. Lucien Duguay (Leona), Hamilton, Ont.; seven sons Ernest, Beresford; Edmond, Ontario; and Gerard, Arthur, Leonard, Leofred all of Beresford and Telesphore, Toronto; 55 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren. The remains rested at Verret's Funeral Home, Nigadoo. Funeral mass was celebrated April 2, at St. Nom de Jesus Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery later in the spring.

Joseph Ernest Irenee Pitre: l'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Friday, 4 April 2003: Bathurst - At the Bathurst Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the age of 83 years and 11 months, Ernest Pitre, husband of Eva Pitre, who lived in Bathurst but formerly lived in Beresford, passed away. He was the son of the late Theodore Pitre and the late Hilda DeGrace of Beresford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Herman (Murielle) and Leo (Viola), both of Bathurst and Reginald (Gilberte) of Beresford; five daughters: Hilda and Carmella (Hermel Vienneau), both of Beresford, Ginnette (Jean-Guy Daigle) of Dunlop, Nicole Bourque and Murielle (Charles Roy), both of Pointe-Verte; a daughter-in-law, Albina Pitre of Bertrand; four brothers: Leonard (Adeline), Leofred (Virginie) and Arthur (Irene), all of Beresford and Edmond of Toronto, Ont.; three sisters: Leona (Lucien Duguay), Ida (Emery Vienneau) and Lydia (Sonny McLaughlin), all of Beresford; one sister-in-law, Irma Pitre of Toronto; a godson, Raymond Frenette of Shediac, as well as 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Gladys; two sons: Daniel and Alvin, as well as two brothers: Gerard and Thelesphorus, predeceased him. The remains are currently on display at Heritage Funeral Home, 270 Centre Street in Beresford. The funeral mass will be held in the Saint-Nom-de-Jesus church of Beresford on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery later this spring. Funeral management has been entrusted to the professional care of Heritage Funeral Home in Beresford.

Died, a son Paul-Emile; a brother Telesphore "Bill". Employed 46 years for Fraser & Miramichi Pulp & Paper Company. (Note from Donat Robichaud: Gerard was a cook in a Miramichi camp. There was a bear that came to the camp every day and Gerard fed him. After his retirement, he often returned to see his bear.)
Leofred Pitre: Elhatton’s Funeral Home (Bathurst, NB): Leofred Pitre 1930-2022 Pointe-Verte – At the Foyer Chez Joanne in Pointe-Verte, on Thursday, 24 February 2022, at the age of 91, passed away Leofred Pitre, formerly of Beresford. Born at Beresford, he was the son of the late Theodore Pitre and the late Hilda Degrace. He is survived by his wife, Georgina (Boudreau) Doucet of Robertville and six children: Oliva Hache (Jean-Eudes Englehart) of Dunlop, Marie Doucet (Denis) and Suzanne Lagace (Claude) both of Petit-Rocher, Pauline LeBlanc (Guy) of Ste. Marie, Kent, NB, Michel Pitre (Sophie) and Armand Pitre (Juliette) both of The Pas, MB; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren. Five step-children: Ovide Roy of Amqui, Qc, Edouard Roy (Nicole) of Petit Rocher, Claude Roy of Beresford, Claudette Angers (late Real) of Beresford and Laurinda Roy of Bathurst. Several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He now rests with his 2nd wife, Verginia Roy, one son, Edouard and 10 brothers and sisters. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral mass to be celebrated from St. Nom de Jesus Church, Beresford at a later date. In memory of Leofred, a donation to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home in Beresford.
