MISC:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Sunday, 28 September 1952:  Mrs. John Pitt Celebrates 90th Birthday.  Mrs. John Pitt, whose grandmother lived to be 103, is celebrating her 90th birthday today.  Mrs. Pitt, the former Miss Cecilia Melancon has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Eubertie Hebert for 46 years.  She was born in St. Martin parish where she lived until she was 13 years old.  She and her late husband are the parents of two children, Mrs. Hebert of Lafayette and  Mr. Ulinor Pitt, of Scott.  One of Mrs. Pitt's favorite pasttime is reminiscencing the 'old days'.  Better known as 'Namon' by her many friends, she often tells about the time her grandmother danced a waltz at the age of 100.  She died when she was 103.  Mrs. Pitt has 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

- Obituary:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Friday, 21 March 1958:  Funeral services were held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafayette at a 9:30 a.m. Requiem mass today for Mrs. John Pitt, 95, the former Cecilia Melancon, who died at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eubertie Hebert, 103 Simon St. Lafayette at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.  Interment was in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Scott.  Services were conducted by Rev. Roy Edwards.  Pallbearers were Alus Hebert, John Hebert, Walter Hebert, Benoit Pitt, Paul Pitt and Johnny Pitt.  The Martin and Castille Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Aloysia Pitre:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Tuesday, 20 March 1973:  Mrs. Eubertie Hebert.  Funeral services were held at a 10 a.m. Requiem Mass yesterday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Mrs. Eubertie Hebert, 87, the former Alosia Pitt, who died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sonnier, 703 N. Washington St.  Interment was in the church cemetery.  The Rev. John F. O'Connor, O.P. of the Dominican Mission was celebrant of the funeral Mass and conducted graveside services.  Pallbearers were Kenneth R. Mouton, Edward J. Hebert, Alton Hebert, Raymond Roy, Ray Bourgeois and Alus Hebert.  Martin and Castille Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Illinois 'Ulinor' Adam Pitre:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Wednesday, 11 June 1986:  (photo)  Ulinor Pitt Sr.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at a 10 a.m. Mass in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Ulinor A. 'Loul' Pitt Sr., 98, who died Monday 8:25 p.m. at his residence in Scott.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Rev. Frederick O. Swenson, pastor, will officiate.  The Sts. Peter and Paul Senior Choir, accompanied on the organ by Nancy Pinchoff, will sing "Where He Leads Me", "Le voici l'agneau", "Amazing Grace" and "J'irai la voir un jour".  Survivors include four sons, Johnny Pitt, Anthony Pitt, Ulinor Pitt Jr. and Paul Pitt, all of Scott; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Louisianaise Domingue Pitt on May 14, 1963; three sons, Camille Pitt on June 15, 1971, Benoit Pitt on August 7, 1982 and Julien U. S. Pitt on March 7, 1918; one sister, Alozia P. Hebert and one grandchild.  A native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Scott for the past 73 years, Mr. Pitt was the son of the late John Pitt and the former Cecilia Melancon, both natives of St. Martin Parish.  He was a retired farmer.  Mr. Pitt was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Sts. Peter and Paul Holy Name Society.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until time of services Wednesday.  Pallbearers are Johnny Pitt, Anthony Pitt, Ulinor Pitt Jr., Paul Pitt, Donald Pitt and Donald Stemmans.  Martin and Castille Funeral Home in Scott is in charge of arrangements.
