Obituary:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), Thursday, 24 December 2009:  Jefferson Pitre, 79, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009.  He is survived by children, Nelly (Ted) Dufrene, Rose (David) Griffin, Chris (Alison) and David (Pam) Pitre; sisters, Elvida Dufrene, Willie Mae Duet and Nola Bruce; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora P. Pitre; parents, Fedless and Loridia Doucet Pitre; and brother, Clifton J. Pitre.  Mr. Pitre was a lifelong commercial fisherman and avid hunter.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Golden Meadow, a member of Lafourche Lodge 427, Jerusalem Shriners and the board of Cheramie Cemetery.  He is buried at Cheramie Cemetery.

Obituary:  Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), Tuesday, 24 June 2008:  Nora P. Pitre, 79, a native of Galliano and resident of Cut Off, died at 7:58 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008.  Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off.  Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery.  She is survived by her husband, Jefferson "Jeff" Pitre; two sons, Chris Pitre and wife, Alison, and David Pitre and wife, Pam; two daughters, Nelly Dufrene and husband, Ted, and Rose Griffin and husband, David; one brother, Robert Pitre; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Elphege and Argentina Bychurch Pitre; three brothers, Francis, Eusebe and Volcare Pitre; and three sisters, Stella P. Cantrelle, Louisa P. Griffin and Lula P. Saia.  She was a member of Golden Meadow Methodist Church.  Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
