Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 14 November 1952:  Funeral services were held last Friday in Port Neches, Tex., for Joe E. Pitre, 64, native of Opelousas, who died at Nero clinic.  Services were read at the St. Elizabeth Catholic church and burial was in Calvary cemetery in Port Arthur.  Mr. Pitre moved from Opelousas 40 years ago.  At the time of his death he was owner and operator of a clothing store in Port Neches.  He was a member of that city's Chamber of Commerce and the St. Elizabeth Catholic church.  Surviving the deceased are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. L. J. Landry of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Alfred Porter of Lake Charles; a step-daughter, Mrs. James McClendon of Port Neches; four sisters, Mrs. Alzina Himel and Mrs. Lizzie Savoy of Opelousas, Mrs. Joe Johnson of Port Arthur and Mrs. Annie Boyd of Arkansas.

Obituary:  Lake Charles American Press (LA), Tuesday, 9 August 1966:  Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Pitre, 77, of 908 11th St. will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception.  Burial will be in the Prien Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home.  Mrs. Pitre died at 8 p.m. Monday in a local hospital.  A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel.  Mrs. Pitre was a native of Ville Platte and moved to Lake Charles from Baton Rouge 13 years ago.  She was a retired house mother at McNeese State College.  She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception.  Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Porter of Lake Charles and Mrs. Anita Landry of Houston, Tex.; two brothers, Octave Vidrine of Oakdale and Kirby L. Vidrine of Ozark, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Joyce Alley of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
