Obituary: The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Monday, 4 November 1940: Orono, Nov. 3 - Jerry Leroy Peters, 51, died Saturday at a Bangor hospital after ten weeks' illness. Born in Island Falls, the son of Andrew and Kathleen Curley Peters, the deceased came to Orono about 45 years ago, since which time he has resided here. For the past 28 years he has been employed as a millwright at the International paper mill in this town. A man of sterling character, he was highly respected by his employers. He was recognized as a kindly neighbor, a loving father and husband, and will be greatly missed by his many friends and associates. Surviving are his wife, Alice Alexander Peters; two daughters, Rita Peters and Mrs. Frances Dore; and one granddaughter, Elaine Dore, all of Orono; two brothers, John and William Peters of Newark, N.J. and one sister, Miss Anna Peters of Island Falls. Mr. Peters was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, from where funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be at Riverside.

Obituary: The Bangor Daily News (ME), Thursday, 21 January 1943: Orono, Jan. 20 - The many friends of Mrs. Alice Mary Peters, 42, widow of Jerry Peters, will regret to learn of her death, which occurred this morning at a Bangor hospital, after a long illness. Mrs. Peters was born in Orono, the daughter of William and Mary Collins Alexander. She attended the Orono schools and had always made her home in this town. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Rita Peters and Mrs. Frances Dore of Orono; two grandchildren, Elaine and Robert Dore; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Alexander; four brothers, and one sister, William, of Bangor, George, of Portland, Henry of the U.S. Army, James, and Mabel, of Orono. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where a high mass of requiem will be sung, Saturday morning at 9 o'clock.

She was employed for 10 years at the University of Maine at Orono. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Dore of Bangor; one son, Robert Dore of Bangor; one daughter, Elaine Howe of North Windham; two grandchildren, Christopher and Julie Howe; one sister, Rita Barry of Orono. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John's Catholic Church, Bangor. Friends may call at the Clark-Mitchell Funeral Home, 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Dorothy E. 'Rita' Peters: Bangor Daily News (ME), 14 February 2012: BANGOR - Rita D. Barry, wife of the late Donald Barry, died Feb. 13, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Orono, the daughter of Jeremiah and Alice (Alexander) Peters. Rita grew up in Orono, where she attended St. Mary's School. She was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. John's Catholic Church, Bangor. Rita enjoyed the time she spent caring for her grandson as he grew up. Surviving are one daughter, Theresa Doherty and her husband, Allen, of Bangor; one grandson, Sean Doherty of Bangor; two step-grandchildren, Nicole Benson of Birmingham, Ala., and Daniel Doherty of Fort Covington, N.Y.; one nephew, Robert Dore of Bangor; and one niece, Elaine Howe of North Windham. Rita was predeceased by her husband in 1997; and by one sister, Frances Dore. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
Joseph Clayton Jerry Peters: Evening Express (Portland, ME), Thursday, 17 September 1925: Bangor, Sept. 17 - The body of Clayton Peters, the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Peters of Orono, who disappeared Friday, last, was found at the sluiceway of the International Paper Company's mill in that town at 9:30 today. It was removed to a local undertakers rooms where it was examined by County Medical Examiner H. J. Milliken of Bangor who stated that there were no marks upon it to indicate foul play and a burial permit has been issued. The discovery of the body was made by William Alexander, grandfather of the lad, who had offered a reward of $250.
