Joseph Elmer Pitre:  PEI Co-operative Funeral Homes – Hillsboro (Stratford, PEI):  Elmer Joseph Peters - Passed on: November 18th, 2008:  Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, of Elmer Peters of 29 MacDonald Dr., Stratford, age 94 years.  Beloved husband of the late Gertie Peters (nee Gallant) and loving father of Carol Peters, Louis Peters (Louise), Betty Lou Munn (Barry) and Frank Peters (Margaret).  Elmer is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael, Ricky, Paul, Todd, Charlene, Dawn, Kenneth and Wade; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Peters (Betty) and Arnold Peters (Kris); and sisters, Eleanor Blacquiere (Ferdie-deceased), Ella Mae Gallant (Alphonse-deceased), Helen Doiron (Edward-deceased), Irene Gallant (Leo-deceased), Margaret Gauthier (Francis) and Eunice Gillis (John).  He was predeceased by his son, Vernon Peters; brothers, Alban, Clarence, Reginald and Junior; and sisters, Rita Gauthier and Clarice Buote.  Resting at the Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford, for visitation on Wednesday, November 19, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 20, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Stratford at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the QEH Foundation would be appreciated.  Completion of funeral arrangements has been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford.

Ella Mae Peters:  PEI Co-operative Funeral Homes – Central Queen’s (New Glasgow, PEI):  The death occurred peacefully with family at her side at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, January 10, 2011 of Ella Mae Gallant (nee Peters), wife of the late Alphonse Gallant, of North Rustico, age 87.  Ella Mae was the loving mother of Dorena Hall (Wylie), Lorraine Gallant (Sterling Gunn), Arlene Trainor (Roy), Louise Gallant, Alfred Gallant (Linda) and Karen MacLeod (Harold); mother-in-law of Pauline Gallant; cherished grandmother of Lisa, Michael, Darren, Jamie, Steven and Joseph; and great-grandmother of eleven.  She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond (Betty) and Arnold (Chris); sisters, Irene Gallant, Helen Doiron, Eleanor Blacquiere, Margaret Gauthier (Francis) and Eunice Gillis (John); and sister-in-law, Rose Marie Peters.  Besides her husband, Alphonse, Ella Mae was predeceased by her son, Vincent Gallant; two infant children, Terry and Joan; her parents, Jeremiah Peters and Ida LeClair; sisters, Rita Gauthier (Auspice) and Clarice Buote (Ernest); brothers, Elmer (Gertie), Alban (Estelle), Clarence (Dorothy), Reginald and Junior; and brothers-in-law, Leo Gallant, Edward Doiron and Ferdie Blacquiere.  Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow for visitation on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  The Catholic Women's League will hold a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in the Stella Maris Church Cemetery.

 

Irene Peters:  PEI Co-operative Funeral Homes – Central Queen’s (New Glasgow, PEI):  The death occurred peacefully at the Garden Home, Charlottetown, on Sunday, June 7, 2015, of Irene Gallant (nee Peters), wife of the late Leo J. Gallant, formerly of Mayfield, aged 89.  Irene was the beloved mother of Carolyn Nantes (Desi), Richard (Audrey), Frank (Theresa), Shirley Gallant (Gerry), Jerry (Alice), John (Patti), Denis, Ida McCourt (Greg) and Ernie (Faye); mother-in-law of Mary Alice Gallant and Bill Robertson; grandmother of 30 and great-grandmother of 23.  Besides her husband Leo J. Gallant, she was predeceased by her parents, Jeremiah and Edesse (Leclair) Peters; son, Tony; daughter, Leona Robertson; and twelve brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her sisters, Helen Doiron, Margaret Gauthier (Chip) and Eunice Gillis (John); sisters-in-law, Rose Marie, Chris Peters and Betty Peters; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  She will also be remembered by many in-laws from Leo’s family.  Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  The CWL will hold a Prayer Service, prior to the visitation, at 6:15 p.m.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

 

Helen Peters:  The Guardian (PEI), 22 June 2020:  Doiron, Helen Josephine - The death occurred peacefully at home on Friday, June 19, 2020, of Helen J. Doiron of North Rustico and formerly of New Glasgow Mills, aged 93.  Helen was born in Mayfield on March 5, 1927, to parents Jeremiah and Edesse (LeClair) Peters and was the wife of the late Edward Doiron.  Helen was the beloved mother of David (Joan); Imelda (Justin) Gallant; Roy; Janet; Ian; Vernon (Trish); Carl (Donna); Judy Gauthier; Claire (Roger) Matheson; and Leon (Sylvia).  She will be dearly missed by her 26 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many more who called her Grannie; sisters, Margaret Gauthier (late Francis) and Eunice Gillis (late John); daughters-in-law, Marlene Doiron and Louise Turner; and son-in-law, Brendon (Victoria) Griffin.  Helen is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lena Quinn, Louise Larkin, Yvonne Larkin, Rosemarie Peters, Shirley Doiron Peters and Pauline Gallant; and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband. Edward, she was predeceased by sons, Donald (in infancy), Allan and Earl; daughter, Anita Griffin; grandson, Brandon Doiron; brothers, Elmer, Alban, Raymond, Clarence, Reggie, Arnold and Junior; and sisters, Rita, Clarice, Ella Mae, Irene and Eleanor.  Eternally young at heart, Helen will be remembered for her deep faith, her quilting skills, her pride in her home and her family, her love of waltzing, and her great sense of humour.  She welcomed all visitors to her home with a hot cup of tea and scrumptious homemade food.  She had lifelong friends from all walks of life and from various parts of the world.  May she rest in peace in her heavenly home.  Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow.  Due to health restrictions there will be no public visitation.  A private funeral mass will be held at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Hope River, on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in St. Ann's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please do a kind act for a neighbor or friend, or make a donation to the St. Ann's Cemetery Fund or charity of your choice.

James Arnold Peters:  Central Queen’s Funeral Home:  The death occurred unexpectedly at South Lake Regional Hospital, Newmarket, Ontario, on Sunday, April 21, 2013 of Arnold Peters, formerly of Mayfield, P.E.I., age 78.  Arnold was the beloved husband of Chris (MacPherson) Peters for 35 years and the much loved stepfather of Carol Profitt.  He is also survived by his sisters, Irene Gallant, Helen Doiron, Margaret Gauthier (Francis) and Eunice Gillis (John); sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Peters and Betty (Large) Peters; and many nieces and nephews.  Arnold was predeceased by his parents, Jeremiah and Ida (LeClair) Peters; brothers, Elmer (Gertie), Alban (Estelle), Clarence (Dorothy), Raymond, Reginald and Jeremiah 'Junior'; sisters, Rita Gauthier (Auspice), Clarice Buote (Ernest), Ella Mae Gallant (Alphonse), Eleanor Blacquiere (Ferdinand) and Irene Emma, in infancy; and brothers-in-law, Leo Gallant and Edward Doiron.  Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.  The funeral will be held at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Hope River on Monday, April 29, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.  Flowers gratefully declined. Margaret Peters:  Gauthier, Margaret Joan September 8, 2023:  The death occurred peacefully, with family by her side at Beach Grove Home, Charlottetown, on Friday, September 8, 2023, of Margaret Joan Gauthier (nee Peters), beloved wife of the late Francis Augustine “Chip” Gauthier, formerly of North Rustico, aged 88.  She was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Ida (LeClair) Peters.  Margaret was the loving mother of Lorna Gallant (Bob), Colleen Devlin (Kevin), Marilyn Hughes (deceased), Theresa Gauthier, Angela MacLeod (Darcy) and Mary Lynn (deceased in infancy); mother-in-law of Jeff Hughes (Marilyn, deceased); grandmother of Melissa, Henri, Kyle, Stacy, Chandler, Kara, Chloe, Jared, Alex and Jacob; and great-grandmother of Tessa, William, Karson, Arden and Emily.  She is also survived by her sister, Eunice Gillis (John, deceased); special niece, Joan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides her parents, Jeremiah and Ida, her husband, Francis “Chip”, and her children, Marilyn and Mary Lynn, Margaret was predeceased by her 14 siblings.  Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 6-8 p.m.  The funeral will be held at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in the church cemetery.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or PEI Diabetes would be appreciated.
