Obituary:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Tuesday, 24 February 1959:  Port Arthur - Jack C. Pitre, 74, retired Port Arthur school board employee, died Monday night at St. Mary's Hospital.  A native of Opelousas, La., Mr. Pitre lived in Port Arthur 32 years.  He belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Surviving are: His wife; daughters, Mrs. Guy Edwards of Port Arthur and Mrs. R.E. Haney of Gainesville, Fla.; son, Rodney Pitre of Port Arthur; brothers Simon and Damon Pitre of Opelousas; one sister and six grandchildren.

Ena Mary Pitre:  Port Arthur News (TX), Wednesday, 25 April 2007:  Baytown - Ena Mary Edwards, 91, of Baytown, departed this life Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in a local hospital.  Born in Burns, Louisiana on November 20, 1915, she was the daughter of Jacque Pierre and Mary Ament (Vigie) Pitre.  She spent her early years in Port Arthur and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.  Following graduation, she earned a cosmology degree and practiced in West Texas.  She married noted architect Guy Blake Edwards and moved to Kansas City, Kansas.  There she began a career in retail and held several positions including store model.  Upon returning to Port Arthur, she worked at Dryden's Clothing Store in Groves until the store closed.  She continued her work in retail at the White House in Beaumont until her retirement in 1994.  She loved to travel and took many trips to Europe and the Orient.  She also enjoyed taking cruises with her family.  Gardening was among her many passions, and she delighted in her beautiful plants.  Ena took much joy in being with her family, whether it was shopping or enjoying a meal out with them.  Her dogs were always a big part of her life and brought much happiness to her, especially in her declining years.  She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of the St. John Keenagers.  Preceded in death by her husband, Guy Edwards, and brother, Rodney Pitre, Ena is survived by her daughter, Tracey Webb of Atlanta, GA.; her son, Quentin Edwards and wife, Cathy of Baytown; sister, Mae Reaser Haney of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Tiffany and Blake Edwards of Baytown, and Tracey Nicole Webb of Atlanta, GA; and her caregiver, Barbara Scott.  Visitation will Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., at Crespo & Jirrels, with vigil service at 6 p.m., Rev. Msgr. Fred O'Connor, officiating.  Entombment and committal service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.  For those desiring memorials can be made may be made in Ena's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Odyssey Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Crespo & Jirrels Funeral and Cremation Services.

Rodney Pitre:  The Beaumont Enterprise (TX), Sunday, 15 April 2001:  Rodney Pitre, 74, of Groves died April 13, 2001, at his residence.  Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with cremation under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.  A vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  A native of Lafayette, La., he lived in Groves most of his life and was a retired Groves Car Care mechanic.  He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.  Survivors include his son, Richard "Rickey'' Pitre of Groves; stepdaughter, Connie Brunson Duke of Cleveland; sisters, Ena Edwards of Baytown and Kitt Haney of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
