Obituary: Kennebec Journal (Augusta, ME), Monday, 22 December 1969: Sanford - John Peters, 64, died unexpectedly in Goodall Hospital Sunday morning. He was born April 1, 1905, in Gardiner, the son of Freeman and Louise Splourd Peters. A former Gardiner resident, he had been emloyed here for 30 years by the Federal Government as an electrician. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Arline Thibeault Peters of Sanford; a brother, Joseph M. Peters of Haverhill, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Josephine McCourtney of Augusta; an uncle, Dennis Bishop of West Gardiner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A requiem Mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gardiner.
