Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Wednesday, 21 December 1994:  Funeral services for Mr. Nelson Pitre, 76, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  The Rev. Gary Schexnayder will conduct the services.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Lafayette, formerly of Prairie Ronde, died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, in the Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette.  He was a retired farmer and St. Landry Parish School Board member.  Survivors include: his wife, Emelina Smith Pitre of Lafayette; two sons, Alton Pitre of Broussard and Rayland Pitre of Dayton, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Birdie) Jacob of New Orleans and Mrs. Russell (Sherry) Courville of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  Visiting hours are from 4-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of services.  A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA):  Funeral services for Mrs. Nelson Pitre, the former Emelina Smith, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel on North Main in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial.  The Rev. Dan Schexnayder conducted the services.  Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Lafayette, died Saturday, January 9, 1999, in Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Lafayette.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include: two sons, Alton Pitre of Broussard and Rayland Pitre of Dayton, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Birdie) Jacob of New Orleans and Mrs. Russell (Sherry) Courville of Lafayette; a brother, Leo Smith; three half brothers, Gustave Faul, Octave Faul and Joseph Faul; a sister, Octavie Daigle of Church Point; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  Visiting hours were observed from 10 a.m. Sunday until time of services.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on North Main in Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.
