Obituary:  Boston Daily Record (Boston, MA), Friday, 14 January 1955 - Auto Kills Malden Man:  John M. Petrie, 66, of 163 Bryant st., Malden, was struck by an auto and killed last night while crossing Eastern ave., near his home.

Malden News:  JOHN M. PETRIE, ACCIDENT VICTIM, IS LAID TO REST - Funeral services for John M. Petrie, 66, of 163 Bryant Street, who was killed when struck by a car at Eastern Ave. and Bryant Street Thursday evening, were held yesterday morning from the Carroll Funeral home with a high Mass of Requiem at the Sacred Hearts Church.  Mr. Petrie, husband of the late Margaret (Arseneau) Petrie, had left his home after dinner and was fatally injured as he was crossing the intersection.  He was pronounced dead on arrival at Malden Hospital.  Rev. Joseph I. McInnis was celebrant of the Mass which was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends.  Burial was in the family lot at Holy Cross cemetery with Rev. Peter B. Linehan, pastor of the Church of the Little Flower, Everett, pronouncing the committal service.

Obituary:  Boston Globe (Boston, MA), Sunday, 25 December 1949:  Malden, Dec. 24 - Services for Mrs. Annie Margaret Petrie, 56, wife of John M. Petrie, 6 Wilbur st., who died last night, will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a solemn high mass at St. Joseph's Church, Malden.  Mrs. Petrie collapsed on a bus on her way to visit her doctor.  She was pronounced dead on arrival at Malden Hospital.  Mrs. Petrie was employed by Thompson's Spa in Boston.  She was a member of Maplewood Court, C.D.A., and St. Joseph's Church and sodality.  Besides her husband she leaves two sons, Michael T. of Malden and Joseph T. of Saugus; six daughters, Mrs. Jean B. Bodnell, Mrs. Charles Saunders, Mrs. Arthur Gerard, Mrs. Wilfred Jodoin, Mrs. Louise Petrie, all of Malden, and Mrs. Walter Waring of Lynnfield and 14 grandchildren.

Waring.  Bristol - Marie Anna (Petrie) Waring, 80, died Aug. 1, 2002.  Born Feb. 26, 1922, in Beldune, Canada, she was the daughter of John M. and Margaret A. (Arsenau) Petrie.  Called 'Nana' by all that loved her, she was a talented seamstress and craftsman of beautiful patchwork quilts, dolls and colonial-style rag rugs.  She was an avid collector of coins, fine china and dolls.  She was the widow of Walter Edward Waring, her husband of 59 1/2 years.  The family includes nine children, Walter J. Waring of Holliston, Mass., Louise M. Ravet of Alameda, Calif., Jeanne W. Reed of Merrimack, June Arsenault of Bristol, Lauri J. Perry of Webster, Russell C. Waring of Manchester, Elizabeth M. Stedman of Bristol, Charles F. Waring of Billerica, Mass., and James E. Waring of Bristol; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Services:  A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Alexandria Methodist Church, Alexandria.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bristol Fire Department, Bristol, or The Alexandria Methodist Church, Hebron.  Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
