Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Wednesday, 8 November 1995: (photo) Murphy Joseph Pitre, 96, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 6:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1995. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with burial at St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery. He is survived by one son, Donald Pitre of Houma; one daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Emma) Theriot of Houma; one brother, Aswel Pitre of New Orleans; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Wallace Pitre; his parents, Alidore and Amelia Babin Pitre; one sister, Mrs. Zenon (Anice) Roussell; and two brothers, Norris and Ashful Pitre. He was the former owner of Pitre Brothers Transfer Company and a parishioner of St. Gregory Catholic Church.

Obituary: The Courier (Houma, LA), Friday, 1 May 1970: Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Marie Wallace Pitre were held Wednesday April 29, at 10 a.m. in St. Gregory Catholic Church, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery No. 2. Mrs. Pitre, age 69, died Monday April 27, at 3:50 p.m. in Terrebonne General Hospital. She was a resident of 245 Wright St., and a native of Lockport. Survivors are her husband Murphy Pitre; one son, Donald J. Pitre of Houma, one daughter, Mrs. Lynn Theriot of Houma; and seven grandchildren. Other survivors include four brothers, Emile and Albert Wallace of Houma, Everette Wallace of New Orleans, Ernest Wallace of Wiggins, Miss., and six sisters, Mrs. Clifford Porche, Mrs. Ezelle Dillard, Mrs. Gladys Bergeron, Mrs. Louis Routier and Mrs. Robert Henderson all of Houma and Mrs. Robert Schwem of Lake Charles. A brother Cody Wallace preceded her in death.
