Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 24 June 1958: Eunice - Last rites were conducted at 4 p.m. Monday for Joseph L. Pitre, 57 of Chataignier, who died Sunday at his home at 4 p.m. Mr. Pitre, a farmer, had been ill for about 10 weeks. Services were conducted from the French Baptist Church in Chataignier with burial in the cemetery there. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Eunice was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, the former Oline Bertrand; his mother, Mrs. Joseph Pitre of Eunice; three sons, Aubrey Pitre of Eunice; Joseph Pitre of Chataignier and Herbert Pitre of Morgan City; six daughters: Mrs. Cyprien Johnson of Eunice, Mrs. Ardres Veillon and Mrs. Roduig Fontenot both of Morgan City, Mrs. Joseph Johnson of Beaumont, Tex., Miss Nelwyn Pitre and Miss Deanna Faye Pitre both of Chataignier, three brothers: Curley Pitre of Prairie Ronde, Charles Pitre of Elton and Austin Pitre of Eunice; four sisters, Mrs. Eugene Huval, Mrs. Melvin Dupre, Mrs. Marshall Dupre and Mrs. Willie Rider all of Eunice and twenty-two grandchildren.

Herbert Pitre: Herbert "Pete" Pitre, May 26,
1931 - April 9, 2018: Ville Platte - Funeral services will be held at
11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Bayou Chicot on Thursday, April 12, 2018
for Herbert “Pete” Pitre, 86, who passed away on Monday, April 09, 2018
in Alexandria, LA surrounded by his loved ones. Brother Larry Ferris will
conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in the Ferguson
Cemetery in Bayou Chicot, LA. Herbert “Pete” Pitre was born in
Opelousas, LA on May 26, 1931 to Joseph and Olene Bertrand Pitre. A
veteran of the US Army, Herbert fought in the Korean War. After his tour
of duty, he served in the US Army Reserves for 10 years. He was a welder
by trade, but his greatest love was that of serving the lord. This is
where he left his legacy of faith in God, service to others and love for all.
He set a high standard and great example as Pastor of Lake Cove Baptist Church,
as well as spending countless hours ministering to inmates in local prisons.
His devotion to family was apparent every day. His children and
grandchildren were the light of his life. He is survived by his daughter,
Sheryl Bordelon and husband Mark; son, Michael Pitre; brother,
Joseph Pitre and wife Betty; sisters, Audrey Ardoin, Nelwyn Darbonne and
husband Emeze, and Diana Bertrand and husband Johnny; 13 grandchildren; and
13 great-grandchildren. Also, his yellow crowned Amazon Parrot, Zoey, who
has been his constant companion. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52
years, Anne (Mitchell) Pitre; parents, Joseph and Olene (Bertrand)
Pitre; son, Herbert Joseph Pitre; brother, Aubrey Pitre; and
sisters, Maurica Johnson, Lorraine Veillon, and Mae Johnson. The
family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville
Platte on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM.
Visitation will resume at Calvary Baptist Church in Bayou Chicot on Thursday,
April 12, 2018 from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Andrus, Joshua Pitre, Jacques Andrus, Aaron Pitre, Mark
Isaac Bordelon, and Mark Bordelon. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte

2016: Aubrey Lee Pitre passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the
age of 77. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at
11:00 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Rev. Larry Sarris will
officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Aubrey is
survived by one daughter, Rose Cutshaw and husband Stanley of TN; three
sisters, Audrey Ardoin of Jeanerette, Nelwyne "Nell" Darbonne of
Eunice, and Diana Bertrand of Basile; two brothers, Herbert Pitre
of McNary and Joseph Lee Pitre of Eunice; three grandchildren,
Chantelle Dunbar, Willie Cavalier, and Jimmy Cavalier; and one
great-granddaughter, Tiffany Dunbar.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. Pitre and Carolina
Bertrand Pitre and three sisters, Marice Johnson, Eula Mae Johnson, and
Lorraine Veillon. At the request of the family, visitation will be
held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral
home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday for visitation until the time of
service. Quirk & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
