Obituary:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Tuesday, 26 February 1963:  Tignish Shore Resident Dies - Tignish - Mrs. Joseph Pitre, a life long resident of Tignish Shore, passed away at her home Monday at the age of 87 years.  Her husband predeceased her 24 years ago.  Left to mourn her passing are nine sons and two daughters, Arthur, Charles, Benjamin, John, Joseph and William all of Tignish Shore, Henry in Saint John; Frank in Halifax; and Adrian, Miscouche; Mary, Mrs. Edmund Arsenault, Charlottetown, and Miss Emily Pitre at home.

- The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Wednesday, 27 February 1963:  Pitre - On Monday, Feb. 25, 1963, Mrs. Joseph Pitre of Tignish Shore in her 87th year.  Forwarded from the Rooney Funeral Home to her late residence from where the funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 to St. Simon and St. Jude's Church, Tignish, for Requiem High Mass at 9:30.  Interment in the church cemetery.

Mary Lauretta Pitre:  L'Impartial (PEI), Thursday, 15 June 1905:  Died, Sunday 11 June, Lorette, darling child of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pitre of Lot 2, at the age of 2 years.  Her funeral took place Monday afternoon.  The bearers were Aurelle Arsenault, Joseph Poirier, Meril McKie and Tanise Blanchard.

Joseph Benoit Pitre:  The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Saturday, 12 December 1964:  Noted Tignish Resident Dies - Tignish - Ben Pitre, life-long and highly-respected citizen of Tignish Shore, died at the Charlottetown Hospital Thursday after a brief illness.  He was 58.  Mr. Pitre, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Pitre of Tignish Shore, was a fisherman all his life and an active member of the Conservative party where he acted in the capacity of returning officer during the local elections.  Left to mourn his passing besides his wife, the former Julia Arsenault, are four sons, seven daughters, eight brothers and two sisters. The sons are: Gerald and Delore, living in Toronto, Dennis and Leroy living at home. Daughters: Melvina, Mrs. Charles Gaudet, Tignish Shore; Sister Mary Evelyn, Welland, Ont.; Adeline, Mrs. Dennis MacKinnon, Charlottetown; Lorraine, Ann Marie, Agatha and Cecilia, all at home.  Brothers are: Henry, St. John, N.B.; Adrian, Toronto; Frank, Halifax; Charles, Arthur, John, William and Joseph all of Tignish Shore.  The sisters are Mrs. Mary Arsenault of Charlottetown and Emily Pitre of Tignish Shore.

 

Emily Mary 'Millie' Pitre:  Rooney Funeral Home (Alberton, PEI):  Emily Mary (Millie) Pitre 1921-2013:  (photo) Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Thursday, April 25, 2013, of Emily Mary (Millie) Pitre of St. Peter and St. Paul, age 92 years.  Born at Tignish Shore, P.E.I. on August 9, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mary Catherine (nee Arsenault) Pitre.  She will be sadly missed by her life long friend Frances Richard, with whom she resided.  She will be sadly missed by her numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings: Arthur, Charles, Ben, William, John, Henry, Frank, Joseph, Adrien, Mary Arsenault and Frances, who passed away in infancy.  Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton.  Visiting hours Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral on Saturday morning, April 27, 2013, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, celebrant.  Interment in the church cemetery.  If so desired memorials to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund or to the Church Building Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
