Obituary: The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Saturday, 12 December 1964: Noted Tignish Resident Dies - Tignish - Ben Pitre, life-long and highly-respected citizen of Tignish Shore, died at the Charlottetown Hospital Thursday after a brief illness. He was 58. Mr. Pitre, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Pitre of Tignish Shore, was a fisherman all his life and an active member of the Conservative party where he acted in the capacity of returning officer during the local elections. Left to mourn his passing besides his wife, the former Julia Arsenault, are four sons, seven daughters, eight brothers and two sisters. The sons are: Gerald and Delore, living in Toronto, Dennis and Leroy living at home. Daughters: Melvina, Mrs. Charles Gaudet, Tignish Shore; Sister Mary Evelyn, Welland, Ont.; Adeline, Mrs. Dennis MacKinnon, Charlottetown; Lorraine, Ann Marie, Agatha and Cecilia, all at home. Brothers are: Henry, St. John, N.B.; Adrian, Toronto; Frank, Halifax; Charles, Arthur, John, William and Joseph all of Tignish Shore. The sisters are Mrs. Mary Arsenault of Charlottetown and Emily Pitre of Tignish Shore.

Mary Evelyn Pitre: Hillsboro Funeral Home (PEI), 14 March 2024: Peacefully at Beach Grove Home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the death occurred of Evelyn Mary Pitre of Charlottetown, formerly of Tignish, age 90 years. Beloved sister of Anne Marie Chaisson, Dolor Pitre (Bernice), Cecelia Callaghan (Bill), Aggie DesRoche and Leroy Pitre (Connie). Sister-in-law of Phil Gaudet, Bertha Pitre; and brother-in-law Howard DesRoche. Evelyn will be remembered with love and missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Julia (Arsenault) Pitre; siblings, Melvina Gaudet, Gerry Pitre, Lorraine Gaudet, Adeline MacKinnon (Bennett) and Denis Pitre. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home. No visitation by request. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Pius X on Friday, March 15, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place later at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Born on April 25, 1941, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Julia (nee Arsenault) Pitre. Loving father to Ann (Norman) Gaudet, Audrey (Lyman) Getson, Darryl (Ruby) Pitre, Evie Gaudet, Susan Pitre (Millar MacQuarrie), Malcolm (Kelly) Pitre and Blair Pitre.
