Obituary: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 13 June 1946: Funeral services were scheduled for 3 p.m. today for Halphen Pitre, 57, resident of Prairie Ronde, who died Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. The funeral was from the Pitre home in Prairie Ronde, and services were at the Prairie Ronde Catholic church, with interment in the adjacent cemetery, Father Senneville officiating. Mr. Pitre is survived by his widow, the former Mamie Ledoux; one son, Milburn Pitre of Prairie Ronde; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Boudreaux, Opelousas, and Mrs. Sybil Dupre, Prairie Ronde. Eight brothers, Alfred of Opelousas, and Henry, Odia, Moise, Eddy, Adelin, Theodore and Edna, all of Prairie Ronde; five sisters, Mrs. Amas Reed, Mrs. Willie Ledoux and Mrs. Lee Fontenot, all of Opelousas; Mrs. Tom Bibb, Prairie Ronde, and Mrs. Dewey Dupre, Plaisance. Lafond and Son were in charge of arrangements.

Misc.: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Friday, 4 December 1953: A barn owned by Mrs. Halphen Pitre of Prairie Ronde was completely destroyed yesterday morning when it was struck by lightning and ignited, Opelousas firemen reported. They said the alarm was given in at 9:50 a.m. at the height of the heavy rains and wind that whipped the city for several hours. The building and contents, including farm equipment, hay and corn, were a total loss. Mrs. Pitre carried insurance firemen said.
Obituary: The Town Talk (Alexandria, LA), Friday, 26 November 1971: Opelousas, La. - [Mrs.] Alphan Pitre, 74, of Opelousas died at 8 p.m. Wednesday in a hospital here. [S]He is survived by a son, Milburn Pitre of Ville Platte; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Boudreaux and Mrs. Sybil Dupree, both of Opelousas; a brother, Lawrence LeDoux of Opelousas; three sisters, Mrs. Willis Brown of Prairie Ronde, Mrs. Effie Joubert and Mrs. Doug Fontenot of Lawtell; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic church at Prairie Ronde with burial in the church cemetery.

The Rev. Jeff LeBlanc will conduct the services. Mrs. Boudreaux died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Lafayette General Hospital. Survivors include her two sons, Donald J. Boudreaux and companion, Cecile Lejeune, of Lafayette and Byron D. Boudreaux, of Opelousas. Mrs. Boudreaux is also survived by four grandchildren, Bridget Drabek and husband, Jeff, of Rochchester Hills, Mich., Evette Boudreaux, Tim Boudreaux and Kyle Boudreaux, all of Lafayette; a special niece, Shelia Richmond and husband, David, of Natchitoches, La.; as well as three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boudreaux was preceded in death by her parents, Halphan and Mamie Ledoux Pitre; her husband, Henry Boudreaux; brother, Milben Pitre; and sister, Winnie P. Dupre. Mary Boudreaux was an active member of The Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society. Visitation was observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2006, and will continue from 8 a.m. Monday until time of services. A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on the Old Sunset Hwy. is in charge of the arrangements.

Winnie Pitre: Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 13 February 2006: (photo) Prairie Ronde - Funeral services for Mrs. Winnie Pitre Dupre, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2006, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, both in Prairie Ronde. Father Dan Picard will conduct the services. Mrs. Dupre, currently residing in Opelousas, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, in the Senior Village Nursing Home of Opelousas. She was a native and life-long resident of Prairie Ronde. She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and anyone who knew and loved her. Survivors include one son, Bobby Lee Dupre and fiance, Melanie Dupre, of Prairie Ronde; one daughter, Jackie Montgomery and husband, Joseph, of Washington; one sister, Ival Boudreaux, of Lafayette; three grandsons, Jason Dupre and Todd Lee Dupre, both of Scott; and Kent Montgomery, of Washington; five great-grandchildren, Mary Ann Dupre, Samantha Leagh Dupre, Braden Tyler Dupre, Madison Paige Dupre and Gabrielle Alyse Dupre, all of Scott. She is also survived by special children of the family, Alida Pitre and Douglas Pitre, both of Lawtell; Haley Fontenot and husband, Eric, of Grand Prairie; and Heather Briley and husband, Shane, of Ville Platte. Mrs. Dupre was preceded in death by her husband, Syble John Dupre; one son, James Halphen Dupre; her parents, Halphen and Mamie Ledoux Pitre; and one brother, Milburn Pitre. Pallbearers will be Todd Dupre, Jason Dupre, Floyd Dupre, Mike Dupre, David Dupre and Douglas Pitre. Visiting hours were observed from noon until 10 p.m. Sunday in Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Today, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Shelia P. Richmond of DeRidder and Mrs. Arlene (Maggie) P. Johnson of Ville Platte; two sons, Neil Pitre of Freeport, Texas, and Milben J. (Joey) Pitre Jr. of Ville Platte; two sisters, Mrs. Ivel P. Boudreaux and Mrs. Winnie P. Dupre, both of Opelousas; and six grandchildren.
