Obituary:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Saturday, 17 February 1973:  Bathurst - The death of Herbert Pitre occurred Thursday at Chaleur Regional Hospital after a long illness.  He was 70.  Born in South Tetagouche, he was a son of the late Larry and Margaret (Pitre) Pitre.  He moved to Bathurst with his family as a child.  His work included a period of employment with the former LaPerrelle Lumber Co. Ltd. here.  He retired about seven years ago due to ill health.  He is survived by his wife, the former Excelda Chiasson; three sons, Robert of Montreal, Ernest of Scarborough, Ont., and Donald of Toronto; two daughters, Mrs. Garfield Yates (Patricia) and Mrs. Gerard Theriault (Emma), both of Scarborough and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Young (Gertrude) and Mrs. Joseph DesRoche (Ida), both of Bathurst and several grandchildren.  The body is resting at Elhatton's funeral home with funeral to be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral.  Entombment will be in the Roman Catholic cemetery vault on King Avenue to await spring burial in the adjoining cemetery.
