MISC:  The Montreal Star, (Montreal, QUE), Thursday, 13 June 1968:  Jerome Pitre, 23, of 380 St. Martin street was sentenced to six months in jail yesterday, pleading guilty to the illegal sale of two revolvers and one pistol.  Pitre, whose brother Raymond last week got a year for illegal possession of a firearm, sold the guns to an unidentified person in a Notre Dame street tavern after smuggling them across the border.  Evidence was that the accused bought four guns in Burlington, Vt., selling three for $25 each.  His brother was caught with the fourth.

- The Montreal Star, (Montreal, QUE), Thursday, 6 February 1969:  St. Joseph de Beauce, Que. - Xavier Pitre, 33, of Montreal, pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge of conspiracy in the escape of two prisoners from a jail here Saturday.  Bail was refused by Sessions Judge Paul Baillargeon and Pitre's preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 13.  The two escaped prisoners - still at large - are Gilbert Pitre, 28, and Jean-Marie Guay, 39.  They had pleaded guilty last Friday to taking part in the $1,807 holdup of a credit union in nearby St. Severin de Beauce last Nov. 14.  They were to be sentenced Feb. 14.  Pitre said Pitre and Guay were freed by three armed and hooded men who slipped into the jail through a window early Saturday and handcuffed the guards.  They released the two prisoners from their cell, locked up the guards and fled.  The jail is 50 miles south of Quebec City.  A third Montrealer, Leon Pitre, 32, who also had pleaded guilty to the armed robbery charge, remained in the jail.  With them at their court appearances Friday was Xavier Pitre, also of Montreal, who was acquitted of the armed robbery charge and a charge of possessing a stolen automobile.  Xavier Pitre was arrested in his Montreal-area home Tuesday by a QPP officer.

- The Montreal Star, (Montreal, QUE), Tuesday, 12 March 1974:  Quebec - Judge Eugene Marquis of Court of Quebec's Bench yesterday sentenced Raymond Pitre, 36, of Sept-Iles to 25 years in penitentiary for the 1972 attempted murder of a Quebec Provincial policeman as well as six other charges including armed robbery, illegal possession of arms and car theft.  Pitre pleaded guilty last week to seven charges.  The policeman, Guy Vezina, was shot while attempting to question Pitre about a bank hold-up.
