Obituary: Houma Courier, Friday, 21 July
1967: Last rites for Mrs. Joseph Pitre, nee Leona Chiasson, were
held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, from the funeral home to St. Francis de
Sales Catholic Church. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs.
Pitre died Monday, July 17, at Touro Hospital in New Orleans. A native of
Terrebonne Parish, she resided at 49 Holy Cross Street, Kenner. Survivors
include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Woodrow Torres, and one grandson,
all of Kenner. Also surviving her are four sisters, Mrs. Elfay
Bonvillain, Kenner; Mrs. Harry Duke and Mrs. Lloyd Bryars, both of Houma;
and Mrs. Elvery Scott, Alexandria; and one brother, ONeal Chaisson,
Harahan. Chauvin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
