Obituary:  Times Picayune, 27 May 1975:  Joseph Pitre, on Sunday, May 25, 1975, at 12:36 p.m., husband of the late Lena Chassion Pitre; father of Mrs. Woodrow A. Torres; brother of Henry Pitre and Pete Pitre, Mrs. Anita Adams, Mrs. Ada Bergeron and the late Harris Pitre; also survived by 1 grandchild; age 70 years, a native of Houma, Louisiana and a resident of Harahan, Louisiana. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services from Chauvin Funeral Home, Houma, Louisiana. Due notice of time will be given. Religious services at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Houma, Louisiana. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery, Houma, Louisiana. Visitation Monday at 2 p.m.

Obituary:  Houma Courier, Friday, 21 July 1967:  Last rites for Mrs. Joseph Pitre, nee Leona Chiasson, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, from the funeral home to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.  Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre died Monday, July 17, at Touro Hospital in New Orleans.  A native of Terrebonne Parish, she resided at 49 Holy Cross Street, Kenner.  Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Woodrow Torres, and one grandson, all of Kenner.  Also surviving her are four sisters, Mrs. Elfay Bonvillain, Kenner; Mrs. Harry Duke and Mrs. Lloyd Bryars, both of Houma; and Mrs. Elvery Scott, Alexandria; and one brother, ONeal Chaisson, Harahan.  Chauvin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
