Obituary:   The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Tuesday, 27 May 1969:  Bathurst - The death of Mrs. Joseph J. Pitre of Beresford occurred Sunday in hospital in Campbellton.  She was 78.  She had spent the last four years as a patient at Vallee Lourdes Sanitorium in Bathurst.  Born in Beresford, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Young) DeGrace.  Her husband died about 10 years ago.  Surviving are four sons, Gerald of Ottawa, Ont., Norman and Edwin, both of Beresford and Richard of Bathurst; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Boudreau (Isabelle), Mont Joli, Que., Mrs. Edward Boudreau (Evangeline) of Moncton and Mrs. Arthur Pitre (Irene) of Beresford; three brothers, Wencealas, Wilfred and William, all of Beresford; one sister, Mrs. Theodore Pitre (Hilda), also of Beresford; 41 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.  The body is resting at Verret's funeral home, Nigadoo with funeral service to be held from Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Beresford tonight at 7 o'clock.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Marie Anne 'Irene' Pitre:  L'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Thursday, 14 January 2010: (photo) Beresford - It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Irene Pitre, which occurred at the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Home, Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the age of 88 years.  She was a daughter of the late Joseph and the late Eulalie Pitre.  She was the wife of Arthur Pitre, formerly of Beresford.  Besides her spouse, she is survived by nine children: Eddy (Anne) Montreal, Kenneth (Valeda) Dunlop, Richard of Petit Rocher, Linda (Clarence) Nigadoo, Marie-Blanche (Luc) Sormany, Joanne (Robert) Dunlop, Marie-Claire (Gilbert) Laplante, Alban (Rose Marie) Moncton and Albert of Mississauga, also 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  The mortal remains will be on display starting at 5 p.m., Friday, January 15, at the Verret Funeral Chapel of Nigadoo.  The funeral will take place at Saint-Nom-de-Jesus Church, Beresford, Friday, January 15, at 7 p.m.

 

Joseph Leonard Pitre:  L'Evangeline (NB), 23 May 1957:  Beresford - Death on May 11 of Leonard (of Joseph) Pitre, 33 years old, husband of Rita Boudreau, leaves 4 young children.  Four brothers: Gerald, Norman, Edwin, Richard.  Two sisters: Evangeline (Mrs. Arthur Boudreau), Irene (Mrs. Arthur Pitre).

 

Joseph Gerald Pitre:  Pitre - Gerald passed away 7 August 2006 at the age of 81 years.  Son of the late Joseph Pitre and the late Eulalie Degrace.  He is also survived by several friends at Foyer St. Viateur of Limoges, also two sisters: Evangeline (Edward Boudreau) and Irene (Arthur Pitre).  Also survived by sisters-in-law, several nephews and nieces.  Funeral direction entrusted to Maison Funeraire Lafleur, Embrun.  The religious service will take place Tuesday 15 August 2006 a the chapel of Foyer St. Viateur of Limoges at 1:30 p.m.  Burial will follow at the cemetery St. Nom de Jesus, Beresford, New Brunswick at a future date.

 

Joseph Norman Pitre:  L'Acadie Nouvelle (Caraquet, NB), Thursday, 15 October 1992:  Beresford - Suddenly at his residence, Tuesday, October 13, 1992, at the age of 65 years, Norman Pitre, husband of Florence Boudreau, residing at Beresford, passed away.  Born at Beresford, he was a son of the late Joseph J. Pitre and the late Lilianne DeGrace.  Besides his spouse, he is survived by four daughters: Paula (Gilles Roy) Petit Rocher, Celine (Bradly Prince) Nanimo, C.-B.; Lucille (Reno Pitre) Beresford, and Sylvie (Gilbert Roy) Robertville; one son, Normand Jr. of Beresford; two sisters: Irene (Arthur Pitre) Beresford, and Evangeline (Edouard Boudreau) Moncton; three brothers: Richard (Irene) Beresford, Edwin of Dieppe, and Gerald of Ottawa, also nine grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.  Mr. Pitre was a member of the AA Club and a former volunteer firefighter in Beresford.  He did a lot of volunteer work with the elderly.  The body is currently on display at the Verret Funeral Chapel of Nigadoo.  The funeral procession will leave on Friday, October 16, at 3:45 to go to Saint-Nom-de-Jesus Church of Beresford, where the service will be held at 4 p.m. and from there to the parish cemetery.  Visiting hours:  Thursday, October 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, October 16, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral.  The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Verret Funeral Home, Nigadoo.

 

Edouard 'Edwin' Pitre:  The Daily Gleaner, 18 February 2002:  Dieppe, NB:  Edouard "Edwin" Pitre, 72, of Gauvin Road, Dieppe, passed away Saturday February 16, 2002 at his residence.  Born March 22, 1929 in Beresford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eulalie (DeGrace) Pitre.  He is survived by his sisters, Evangeline Boudreau (Edouard) of Moncton, Irene Pitre (Arthur) of Beresford; a brother, Gerald of Ottawa; several nieces, and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Isabelle; four brothers, Jim, Leonard, Normand, and Richard.  Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton.  Visiting hours Monday from 2 until time of funeral.  The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday February 18, 2002 at Frenette Funeral Home, Moncton.  Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

 

Evangeline Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Saturday, 4 April 2020:  (photo)  Evangeline Boudreau, 88, of Briarlea Serenity Living in Moncton, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at The Moncton Hospital due to complications following hip surgery.  Born on January 16, 1932 in Beresford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eulalie (Degrace) Pitre.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edouard Boudreau, and their nine children:  Donald (Marc) of Montreal, QC, Diane Aucoin (Ray) of Moncton, Mona Hache (Jean) of Rexton, Murielle LeBlanc (Jean-Guy) of Irishtown, Denise Morrisey (Dave) of Moncton, Suzanne Boudreau (Mike) of Moncton, Jean-Paul Boudreau (Irene) of Sackville, Lise Mahoney (Mike) of Toronto, ON, and Sonia Boudreau (Tyler) of Ottawa, ON; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  She was predeceased by eight sisters and brothers.  Evangeline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to and proud of her large family.  With an exceptional zest for life, she was also unstintingly supportive of others, spending many hours helping those in need and supporting her church.  Her Acadian roots were another source of pride as she loved to celebrate her heritage playing the guitar and singing her favorite songs in French and English, often accompanied with a dance.  She was dynamic, fearless and quick with a joke, inspiring many with her enthusiasm and drive.  In light of the current Coronavirus pandemic and at the request of the family, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private family gathering will take place at a later date.  In memory of Evangeline, an act of kindness towards the less fortunate would be appreciated.  Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Moncton.

 

Richard Pitre:  The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Wednesday, 6 September 2000:  Beresford -  A 66-year-old Beresford man drowned in a river behind his home Sunday after falling down an embankment leading to the river.  Beresford-Nigadoo-Petit-Rocher-Pointe-Verte Regional Police said the body of Richard Pitre was found by a family member who went looking after not finding him at home Sunday afternoon.  Pitre was in about one metre (three feet) of water in the Millstream River, at the base of the embankment.  An autopsy conducted yesterday in Bathurst confirmed drowning as cause of death, police reported.  It may be that Pitre lost his balance or suffered a dizzy spell and fell down the embankment, said a police spokesman.  Further analysis in the laboratory may help explain what happened.  Beresford is just north of Bathurst.
