Obituary: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Monday, 7 February 1955: Sudden Death of Mr. J. C. Peters - The death of Joseph Cornelius Peters, 55, assistant caretaker at the Charlottetown Armouries, occurred suddenly at his home 223 Sydney St., on Saturday evening. He had attended to his official duties as usual on Saturday morning. A veteran of the First World War, Mr. Peters went overseas in 1917 with reinforcements for the 105th Battalion. He was discharged on return home in 1919. Born in Rustico, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Peters, he joined the armed forces on leaving school. Surviving relatives in addition to his wife, the former Mary O'Brien of Iona are a boy 16 months old and another son from a previous marriage, Earle Peters of Toronto. A brother George in Saint John, N.B. and two sisters, Mrs. J. J. Bowlan (Rose) and Miss Cecily Peters, both residing in Charlottetown, also survive. His first wife was the former Cordelia Chaisson.

Obituary: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Monday, 7 March 1938: Funeral on Saturday - Mrs. Cornelius Peters, 37, who died in the Charlottetown Hospital on March 3, was buried Saturday. The funeral was held from her late residence, 20 Dorchester Street to St. Dunstan's Basilica where High Mass of Requiem was sung by the Rev. Father W. Keefe. Services at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. Father Louis Dougan. Pallbearers were: Messrs. Cyril Doiron, James Robinson, Augustus Rush, John A. MacDonald, Benjamin Callaghan and John Purcell.
