Obituary:  The Galveston Daily News (Galveston, TX), Wednesday, 4 March 1987:  Jean Pitre.  La Marque - Jean C. Pitre, 84, died Monday, March 2 at Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church of La Marque, the Rev. Gordon Gudger officiating.  Burial will follow in Grace Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock.  Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at James Crowder Funeral Home of La Marque.  Mr. Pitre was born Nov. 15, 1902 in Cut-Off, La.  He was a retired pipefitter, a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, of Sons of Herman in Galveston, and of Pipefitters Local No. 211.  Survivors include his wife, Beatrice A. Pitre of La Marque; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack W. 'Iris' Pitre Blankenship of Texas City; a son, George J. Pitre of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Angell McGee, Nola Savory and Louise Pitre, all of Cut-Off; a brother, Frank Pitre of Houma, La.; a sister-in-law, Georgia Junemann of La Marque; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be Abdon Norris, David Norris, Charles Welch Sr., Marcus Junemann, John Junemann and Ernest Junemann.

Obituary:  The Galveston Daily News (Galveston, TX), Thursday, 1 April 1993:  Beatrice J. Pitre.  Texas City - Beatrice Junemann Pitre, 87, of Texas City died Wednesday, March 31, 1993 at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Texas City.  Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, 1993 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in La Marque with Rev. Paul Jagoe officiating.  Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.  Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.  Born August 20, 1905 in Galveston, Ms. Pitre was a legal secretary for Judge Dibreall.  She resided in Texas City for five years, formerly of La Marque; member of St. Michael Episcopal Church and member of Eastern Star.  She was the daughter of the late Marcus and Addie Junemann, a pioneer family of Galveston.  Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Iris Pitre and Jack W. Blankenship of Texas; seven grandchildren, Bruce W. Blankenship and wife, Karen of Santa Fe, Bes-Ann Blankenship of Texas City, Michelle Pitre of Kansas City, Mo., Patricia Pitre of Kansas City, Mo., Kayla Pitre of Kansas City, Mo., Randy Pitre of Kansas City, Mo. and Chris Pitre of Kansas City, Mo.; sister-in-law, Georgia Junemann of Texas City; three grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean C. Pitre and son, George J. Pitre.  Pallbearers will be Guy Elliott, Chris Elliott, Bruce Blankenship, Marcus Junemann, Jon Junemann, David Norris.  Honorary pallbearers will be Abdon Norris and Dwayne Blankenship.  Memorials may be sent to Vitas Hospice Care, Houston, Texas.  James Crowder Funeral Home.

George Junemann Pitre:  The Kansas City Times (Kansas City, MO), Tuesday, 28 June 1988:  George J. Pitre, 57, Kansas City in Clay County, died June 26, 1988, at North Kansas City Hospital.  He was born in Galveston, Texas, and lived in Kansas City for 34 years.  Mr. Pitre was a dispatcher for the Crouse Cartage Co.  He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War.  Survivors include his wife, Deborah A. Pitre, a son, Randall J. Pitre, and three daughters, Michelle D. Pitre, Patricia D. Pitre and Kayla B. Pitre, all of the home; his mother, Beatrice A. Pitre, LaMarque, Texas; and a sister, Iris L. Blankenship, West Texas City, Texas.  Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the McGilley Antioch Guardian Chapel; burial in White Chapel Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel.

 

Iris Loraine Pitre:  Galveston County Daily News (Galveston, TX), Wednesday, 25 December 2019:  Iris Lorraine Pitre Blankenship, 83, of Santa Fe passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019.  She was born a BOI on December 19, 1936 to Jean and Beatrice Pitre.  Iris attended Ball High School, graduating in 1955.  She was a very talented twirler for the Ball High Tornettes.  After high school, Iris met Jack Blankenship, dated for three months, married on June 29, 1956.  Iris worked for Texas City National Bank, and then worked for the Falstaff Brewery in Galveston.  Continuing her education, she received her LVN associates degree in 1979 from College of the Mainland Nursing School and started her career at Galveston County Memorial, now Mainland Center Hospital.  Iris retired in 2009 after 30 years of service, receiving many accolades and recognition awards.  Iris was a friend to all who met her, and will be sadly missed by family and friends.  Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice A. and Jean C. Pitre; her brother, George Pitre; sister-in-law, Marilyn Sue Sexton and her son, Bobby Jack Blankenship.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Jack W. Blankenship; son, Bruce Blankenship (Sandy); daughter, Bea Ann Blankenship West (Bill); her grandchildren: Dwayne Blankenship (Kandis), Darbi Blankenship Harris (Matt), Bobby Blankenship, Melissa West Smith (Curtis), Amber West, her nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Fuchsia Nelson (Howard), and Martha Spencer; and Honorary for Life Sister, Joan Norris, numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.  A Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 with the Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in La Marque with Father Bob Moore officiating.  A Celebration of Life Reception will follow immediately after the service.  Honorary Pallbearers are David Norris, Gil O'Balle, Marcus Junemann, Chris Elliott, Joel Villareal, Bill Vandre, and Harry Guss.  The family would like to especially thank Emma Perry Stanley for her loving care and support.  Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church in La Marque Texas.
