Notes for Jean Baptiste Pitre:

According to the draft version of Stephen White's Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Acadiennes: 1715 to 1780, Jean Baptiste Pitre, son of Claude Pitre & Marguerite Doiron, married c1756 to Felicite Daigre, daughter of Jean Daigre & Marie Anne Breau.  (Thank you to Karen Theriot Reader.)

From Ile St. Jean on 1 November 1758 Jean Baptiste & Felicite disembarked at St. Malo from the ship Le Duc Guillaume, having lost their first child while crossing to France [Robichaux: The Acadian Exiles in Saint-Malo].  They settled in Pleudihen through at least 1772.  On 3 December 1785, Jean 58, Felicite 55, Charlotte Marie 20, Pierre 19, Jacques 18, Francois 17, Felicite 16, and Marguerite 14 arrived in Louisiana on the ship La Ville D'Archangel.  Sons Jean Marie and Joseph remained in France where they married.  Jean Baptiste's family settled in the Pointe Coupee area.

Of their 16 children, one died at sea, seven died as infants/small children in France, two sons remained in France where they married and raised families, and six made it to Louisiana with their parents.  Those in Louisiana included Charlotte Marie who married Nicholas Courtois a few days after landing.  This was quite common as families were then given a bit of land and supplies to settle.  She died less than 3 years later, probably in childbirth, after the birth of two children.  I can find no trace of Pierre after November 1788.  Jacques Francois married Jeanne Tarsile Thibodeau in 1788.  There are no details of Francoise Madeleine after landing.  Felicite married Jean Farine, from Italy, in 1789, but died in 1793.  Marguerite Marie married Jean Maronge in 1791 but died before August 1796.
