Obituaries for the children:
Marie Louise Emelie Madeleine Pitre: Sudbury Star (ONT), 10 March 2009: Bazinet, Madeleine (nee Pitre) - In memory of our loving mother who passed away in Sudbury, Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Adolph and of the late Louisa (nee Brunet) Pitre. Loving wife of 65 years to the late Romeo Bazinet, predeceased Nov. 27, 2006. Loving mother of Guy Bazinet (Diane), Diane Ducharme (Frank) and Richard Bazinet (Bonnie), Pierrette Zuk (Terry). Cherished grandmother "memère" of Pierre, Sylive (Marc), Chantal, Lynne (Darryl), Carol (Craig), Renée (Roland), Angela (Steve), Andrea (Peter), Camille, Marquise and great-grandmother of Danyk, Nykola, Myka, Devon, Jasmine, Eric, Alexandre, Christopher, Aaron, Shayla, Madina and Lylah. Dear sister of Rosa Proulx (late Marcel), late Lucille Pitre-Giroux, late Jean-Louis Pitre (Simone), late Real Pitre (Cathy), late Adrien (late Rose), late Adrienne Lauzon (late Gerard), late Marcel Pitre (Jeannine), Normand Pitre (late Fleurette) and Gilles Pitre (Claudette). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and best family friend Henri Gaboriaud (late Val). Lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Constance Barbeau (late Jacques), Victoria Clouthier (late Gerard), Claire Valcourt (Harry) and Rita Bazinet. Predeceased by her sisters-in-law Liliane Beaudry (late Oswald) and Lucille Chasse (late Ovila). Madeleine was a very caring and giving person, a woman with talents that knew no bounds. She was a great mother who went above and beyond for her family, at all times being there for us at every step in our lives without ever wanting anything in return, all the while, teaching us the value of family. She was our rock and her passing will leave us in tears forever as we are selfish in that we thought we would have her longer. An amazing mother who could prepare a meal for 2 or 52 in no time and with little or no warning. A self taught musician, she played the piano, organ, mouth organ, mandolin, the spoons and almost anything that made music. She was known for her sewing ability and before her sickness claimed her mobility, she made aprons for all of us including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which was one of her many surprises and God knows there were lots. During her life, besides being a phenomenal wife to our dad, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt to many, she was also an astute business woman having operated a family confectionary store and later went on to become a very successful realtor, retiring at the age of 78 after 36 years as a member of the Sudbury Real Estate Board. She was also past-president of the "Club Allouette", was a pioneer in bringing Co-op Housing to Sudbury, a founding president of "Place Verchere" and after that one, she organized and obtained the land, funding and oversaw the construction of "Place Nolin" a Seniors Co-op Housing Building where she remained president and board member for numerous years. She was recognized by the province in 1984 having been presented with the Bi-Centennial medal of Ontario and also by the federal government in 1992 when she receive the commemorative medal for the 125 anniversary of Confederation of Canada as a tribute for her community work. Madeleine was a true Liberal who in her earlier years worked tirelessly for both provincial and federal parties. She was known as an intelligent, shrewd, honest and strong willed woman by all who knew her and dealt with her. She will be deeply missed by her supper group "les pas bonnes" a great bunch of friends who shared many happy times with her. Madeleine was at her happiest surrounded by her family at home and in healthier times at her cottage in French River. Christmas was by far her happiest time of the year where she would make sure that Santa made his personal appearance whether he was in the mood or not and Santa would always listen to Mrs. Claus no matter what. Her family was the most precious thing in her life. Mom we will miss you forever and will never forget you! Thank you for being our Mother, we love you! The family expresses its appreciation to Dr. Robinson, Dr. Knight, the nurses and staff at the SRH (Laurentian Site) 4th floor as well as the staff at the cancer centre for their kind and compassionate care given during her illness. A special thanks to Dr. Robert Seguin and her personal care workers, Melanie, Julie and her personal nurse Libby. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Co-Operative Funeral Home, Friday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in St-Jean-de- Brebeuf Church, Sudbury.
