Obituary:  Houma Courier (LA), Monday, 7 August 2000:  Joseph Aaron " Mayor of Cocodrie" Pitre, 75, a native of Grand Caillou and a resident of Cocodrie for 25 years, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000.  Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home.  The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  A prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.  He is survived by his wife, Odette LeFort Pitre of Cocodrie; one daughter, Mrs. Rick (Monica) Babbitt of Cocodrie; and two brothers, Harold and Albert Pitre, both of Houma.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Enesia Hebert Pitre; four infant sons, names not provided; one brother, Jules Pitre; five sisters, Libby Burch, Elsie Mae Porche, Aline Bonvillain, Jeanette Buquet and Jennie Bergeron; and one grandson, Nazareth Paul Singletary.  He was the former manager of the New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club, a welder, a trawler and a member of the seismograph crew for Standard Oil and Gas.  He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3700 and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He was born on a boat and passed away on a boat.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Memorial on La. 311, Houma, LA.  Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  Odette Josephine Lefort Pitre, 77, a native of New Orleans and resident of Chauvin, died at 8:27 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006.  She is survived by one daughter, Monica P. Babbitt and husband, Richard, of Chauvin; one brother, Paul Blaise Lefort of Jennings; and one sister, Velma L. Ellender of Houma.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Aaron Pitre; her parents, Alexis Lefort and Armonica Collins Lefort; four sons, Aaron Joseph Pitre, Wade Patrick Pitre, Glenn Michael Pitre and Christopher Pitre; one grandson, Nazareth Paul Singletary; one brother, Alexis Joseph Lefort; and three sisters, Azora L. Martin, Modest L. Richard and Della L. Clark.  She was a retired manager with New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club.  She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
