Notes for Marie Clara Comeau:
Obituary: The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Saturday, 17 November 1973: Bathurst - An autopsy has confirmed that the death of Mrs. Clara Pitre, 67, of Bathurst, widow of Arthur Pitre, was caused from asphixiation from carbon monoxide gas. The body of Mrs. Pitre was found Thursday at a cottage in Petit Rocher where she had been living for the past month. Indications are that the poisonous gas originated from a faulty space heater in the cottage. Roland Levesque, Gloucester County sheriff and coroner said no decision has been made on an inquest pending completion of the investigation by Bathurst RCMP. It is thought that her death occurred sometime during the 24-hour period prior to discovery of her body around noon Thursday. Born in Robertville, she was a daughter of the late Denis and Elizabeth (Bertin) Comeau. Except for a few years spent in Montreal, she was a resident of the Bathurst-Robertville area, and was a member of the CWL and Ladies of Ste. Anne. Her husband died in June of this year. She is survived by three sons, Omer and Damase, both of Montreal, and Denis of Hope, B.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Jean-Pierre Gauthier (Yolande) and Rita, both of Montreal, and Mrs. Raymond Hache (Claudette) of Bathurst; three brothers, Delphis and Avila, both of Petit Rocher, and George of Beresford; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Frenette (Alma) and Mrs. Arthur Godin (Matha), both of Robertville, Mrs. Willie Auger (Rita) of Montreal and Sister Marie Comeau, St. Basile, and by 10 grandchildren. The body is resting at Verret's Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Bathurst, at a time to be announced. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
