Obituaries for the children:

Wilda Mae Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 9 December 2021:  Wilda Pitre Veillon, February 29, 1928 - December 6, 2021 (photo):  Ville Platte - On Monday, December 6, 2021, Wilda Mae Pitre Veillon, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at age 93.  Services for Mrs. Veillon will be held today, December 9, at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 a.m.  Entombment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.  LaVille Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 10 a.m.  Wilda was a leap year baby, born on February 29, 1928, in Prairie Ronde, Evangeline Parish.  Her parents were Adelin Pitre and Bertha Prudhomme Pitre.  She attended school in Prairie Ronde and then Chataignier, where she met the love of her life, Harris Joseph Veillon.  The two were married on July 25, 1943, and had two daughters, Linda and Freida.  Over the years, Wilda worked on the nursing staff of Savoy Medical Center in Mamou and Ardoin Sanitarium in Ville Platte.  She also worked at Evangeline Feed Store.  The people she served everywhere recall her great kindness and compassion.  She loved gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and cooking delicious meals for her family.  She cherished her close friends and cared deeply about people, always showing a sincere and genuine interest in the lives of others.  Wilda had a gift for making everyone feel special and appreciated, rarely calling attention to herself.  A certain light in her eyes told you she was fully present and listening attentively.  As one of the last of her generation, she was frequently consulted about how things were done in the old days.  She is survived by her daughters, Linda Veillon Coreil (husband, Brent Coreil), Freida Veillon Coreil (husband, Armand Coreil); five grandchildren, Chris Coreil (Nicole), Virginia Coreil Shiver (James), Kathryn Coreil Duplechain (Matt), Jacob Coreil (Melissa), and Jonathan Coreil (Angela); and 13 great-grandchildren.  Wilda is preceded in death by her parents, Adelin and Bertha Pitre; brother, Riley Pitre; sister, Enola Prudomme; and husband, Harris Veillon.  Donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Foundation.
