Obituary: The Times Transcript (Moncton, NB), Thursday, 6 February 1975: Chatham - The death of Adolphe J. Pitre of 43 Princess Street, Chatham, occurred Wednesday morning at his home following a long illness. He was 71. Born in Bathurst, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (Arseneault) Pitre. He had been an employee of Fraser's Limited for a number of years, retiring six years ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Agathe Landry; six daughters, Mrs. Leslie Batan (Rosalie) of Toronto, Mrs. Harold Babkirk (Bernice) of Millerton, Miss Leona Pitre and Miss Sylvian Pitre, both of Montreal, Mrs. Peter Vanderberg (Helen) of Ottawa and Mrs. Michael Springer (Pauline) of Fredericton; six sons, Herman and Hector, both of Montreal, Regis of Newcastle, John of Edmonton, Alta., Albert of Chatham and Maurice Pitre at home; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Clark of Montreal. The body is resting at his home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Chatham, with entombment in the church cemetery vault to await burial in the spring.

She was a homemaker, attended the Roman Catholic Church, and was a member of Catholic Women's League and the Twilight Gems Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by daughters, Rose Batten of Georgetown, Ont., Bernice Babkirk (Harold) of Millerton, Helen Vanderberg (Peter) of Stittsville, Ont., Leona and Sylvianne Pitre of Laval, Quebec, Pauline Springer (Michael), Fredericton; sons Regis Pitre (Eileen), John Pitre (Gloria) and Maurice Pitre all of Miramichi, NB; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by first husband Adolphe Pitre; second husband Henry Babin; sons Herman, Hector, Albert. Born in Dolbeau Lac St. John, PQ, he was the son of Adolphe and Agatha (Landry) Pitre. Regis worked with Lounsbury's for 35 years as an automotive body mechanic and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Miramichi Gun Club. Besides his wife: Eileen, Regis is survived by: one daughter: Nicole McCoy (Bruce) of Calgary, AB; one son: Michael Pitre of Gibson, BC; six sisters: Pauline Springer (Mike) of Fredericton, NB; Leona and Sylvianne Pitre, both of Laval, PQ; Bernice Babkirk of Miramichi, NB; Rose Batten of Ontario; Helen Vanderberg (Peter) of Ottawa, ON; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Regis is predeceased by: his first wife: Victorine and five brothers. The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 11 AM with Father Tom Fowler officiating. A reading was done by: Eva MacDonald. Marie Bernice Pitre: Miramichi Leader (Miramichi, NB), Friday, 6 April 2012: The death of Bernice Marie Babkirk R.N. of Miramichi, NB and formerly of Millerton, NB, widow of Harold Babkirk occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the age of 78. Born in Dolbeau, Quebec, Bernice is the daughter of the late Adolphe and Agatha (Landry) Pitre. Bernice was a retired RN from Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home. Bernice is survived by four daughters: Kathleen Babkirk and Karen Cando of Miramichi, NB, Brenda Matchett (Derek) of Ontario and Cindy Clouter (Ted) of Newfoundland; five sisters: Pauline Springer (Mike) of Fredericton, NB, Leona and Sylvianne Pitre, both of Laval, QC, Rose Batten of Ontario and Helen Vanderberg (Peter) of Ottawa, ON; four grandchildren: Darin Cando, Jared and Lyndsey Mattchett, Stacy and Kayla Clouter and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice is predeceased by her parents and six brothers. Visitation was held at The Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Monday from 3 to 3:45, where the funeral service was held at 4 PM with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Joseph Jean Eugene Pitre: Fairhaven Funeral Home: John Pitre, 69 of Moncton, son of the late Adolphe and Agatha Pitre, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, August 24th, 2010 at The Moncton Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gloria (Saulnier); one son, Michael (Terry); one daughter, Patricia Gibb (Tom); three grandchildren, Christina, Ryan and Taylor. He is also survived by one brother; Regis, six sisters; Rose, Bernice, Leona, Sylvianne, Helen and Pauline. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one son, Dwain; four brothers; Herman, Hector, Maurice and Albert. Following cremation, a funeral service will be held at St. Michael's Basilica in Miramichi on Friday, August 27 at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow. Interment in the parish cemetery.
